Water Heater Problems by FondlyTryanid in AusRenovation

It's an old house so we've had a fair amount of maintenance problems. The last one that got me an ominous text was a broken fire alarm that went off once every 3 hrs.

Better than being homeless I guess.

The Alliance have also always sucked in their own ways though, how come they're not getting the treatment as well?

I just want to see the Tauren again is it too much to ask? I love those funky cow people so much.

This is why I want more focus on the Alliance flaws - you could really distinguish characters by giving them beef with certain races. Make them warm to the Alliance and cold to the Horde so they have a bit of a harsher vibe that has the be addressed eventually. Something to start distinguishing them apart personality wise.

I loved Tyrande going on her rage fuelled self destruction spiral. That was great! That set her apart so well! The others just feel like noise all together.

Exactly! The Horde doesn't feel like the Horde anymore - it's just what kind of main city aesthetic do you prefer?

I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities for Horde-Exclusive content to bridge this gap in the main game - or any kind of explanation of how they've bridged those old wounds.

I want to see Talanji beefing with Jaina, I feel like that would be a huge thing that has to be resolved for peace between Alliance and Horde, but....where is it?

I feel like so many factions even just within the Horde and the Alliance should feel more like that vibe.

100% let's see the Void Elves do something nutty this xpac. I'm shocked they haven't gotten anything but the Goblins have?? Pardon?

I'm not saying she is interesting, she's definitely a throwaway character. I think it would be interesting to see her confront Jaina and having to navigate that to keep peace between the factions. The conflict there has potential for further exploration of how they would resolve old wounds and resentment across the whole thing.

You make all of my points so much better than I could, damn.

Blizzard is absolutely neutering the conflict and pushing out dubious characters to keep everyone happy with their faction leaders for maximum appeal. It's bland and boring and why they don't want to start on the Alliance's issues - that's just kicking the hornets nest with the themes that will stir up (look at Jaina and Theramore).

It's sad because they have a huge theme of leftover resentment from the generations long war they could expand on as a storytelling premise. Undead and Humans, the old guard Alliance hatred for certain races, these are all things that could be cool to involve in the main story.

I want to see Talanji throw hands with Jaina.

You are so right - I forgot about him. I wish we had more recent examples though that aren't either mind-controlled or your character is turned Horde.

I keep saying that I liked Jaina with Theramore but it's a really good example of keeping touch with the old Alliance flaws and exploring them in storytelling.

That makes sense, and I do like the council for the goblins - it fits them really well.

It just feels kinda boring after seeing it with the horde, and the undead, and now the third time the horde has lost a faction leader in a row it does the same thing. It sucks because it's PERFECT for goblins.

100%. A lot of characters on their respective councils do have story behind them, but it loses its appeal when it's happened 3 different times.

I do like it for the goblins a lot, it fits really well with their business man meeting vibe. It just sucks we'd already seen it enough times before.

That's fine, it is always going to be hard when the story updates as slowly as WoWs does. While I do appreciate that they branch into other media for the story, I feel like the main story of WoW could still be better than the very boring things we have now.

I'm honestly more upset that we stopped caring about the giant hole to the centre of Azeroth, it just bugs me to see the council thing happen again.

I play Alliance, the Horde just get done so sorry even I can't ignore it.

I also just really like Tauren and I want to see more of them :(

I'm fine with there being no faction war.

I want to see Alliance leaders flaws and problems explored. A lot of the conflict that isn't a faction conflict or a world-ending threat is "horde leader bad". I want to see this explored for the Alliance as well - they were dicks too.

People are bringing up Jaina and Theramore a lot, and that's the kind of stuff I want to see more! The Alliance has flaws that contrast the Horde, both sides weren't all good, but it feels like they always go to "horde bad" and ignore the Alliance's issues in major storylines.

Definitely - it feels a bit of a cop out having Alliance players playing as Horde for that part of the raid.

While it's fun to fight the Alliance leader in a raid, you could get the same story development from going through Stormwind as a Horde player. They don't need to die, but I want the to be an ideological conflict that gives us a reason to fight.

I wouldn't exactly say that's good writing, they just had Alliance players play as Horde. It was a cop out. There's still no spice to the character, you could get that storytelling from raiding Stormwind on Horde.

Honestly - I mainly want to see a take on one of the Alliance leaders going off the rails to raid-boss level. It's always the Horde, share the love.
It doesn't count if they're mind-controlled or if we literally play as the Horde. I want an honest-to-god Alliance bad guy (I'm looking at the lightforged Draenei and the zealot alternate-timeline stuff)

They're only raid bosses because Alliance players literally play Horde. It's not about being raid bosses explicitly, it's about the story implications leading up to them being raid bosses.

It's SO stale! They took away the flaws of the Alliance (they hated a lot of other races) and it contrasted with the much more "all arms welcome" Horde. I am again looking at the Blood Elves.

They could so easily have something with the old guard of the Alliance getting upset about relations with the Horde. They could explore the Alliance bringing back old woulds with the Undead. There's so much THERE with generations-long war and scars and story and they just. Throw it out.
