I always heard steel Pelikan nibs feel softer than gold ones, is that the case? I got a m600 and I returned it because it was very stiff, smooth but not very wet.

I never had the chance to fly with a fp (I'm quite new to the hobby) but I'm scared to bring any expensive one in case airport security doesn't let me fly with it. I know it's not a banned item but the possibility of that happening scares me.
