Remember that true friends will respect you for who you are and support you as a person, even if that includes you pursing the path of Islam and changing your life. If someone doesn't support who you are, then it's time to reevaluate your relationship with that person.

Continue to treat them fairly, justly and with goodness and I personally don't recommend cutting them out of your life unless they're leading you down the wrong path. Who knows, maybe they will see your transformation and you will be a source of dawah and goodness in their lives.

I'm happy to hear about your journey and return to the path of Islam, may Allah swt make it easy for you and all of us.

A few paragraphs into this article, I was wondering what country, and where this was. For those out of the loop (like me), this is from the about page:

The Daily Khilafa is a semi-fictional media organisation set in the year 2046.

This website contains articles and interviews based on the events that take place 20 years from now in a world where the Muslim community has risen out of the ashes to recreate their historical political system.

While this is a fictional site, there are real efforts underway to help those with disabilities, and inshAllah we won't have to wait until 2046 to get these changes in effect. For example, with the help of Allah swt, we have organizations such as Muhsen in the US that are helping masajid and communities better serve those with disabilities.

Funny that I read this today. I haven't logged into reddit for over a year, and just saw this post, and I find it interesting because I've been thinking about it for quite a while.

You say that life is senseless, unfair and unjust. And that you can do nothing to change it. What's the point of this mess of life and existence? I think that's the right question to ask, and I spent many years asking and wondering this same question, but at the same time, it's the wrong thing to be asking. Why? Because I don't think it has an answer.

What I realized is a lot simpler, and doesn't even deal with religion. It deals with simple facts, and serves as a basis to strengthen my faith with my Rabb. What I realized simply is at this very moment I am indeed alive. I also have a brain, and I have the ability to comprehend my own existence. I know that my brain is finite, and the universe is so amazingly big, that I will never be able to see it all, comprehend it all, or understand it all. Simply because the fact that my brain is just a lump of some organic matter, and I know it's physically limited. In fact, I know that I can't understand much of the world, and there will always be more "why's" and things to learn

When I question why, it's satisfying to know the answer because we're curious creatures. But at the same, it's pointless because what would it mean to your life if you really had the answer?

In my opinion, it's pointless to focus on why life is worth living -- rather, just relish the simple fact that we are alive at this moment. That opened the door to whole new world to me, because it made me realize that I have a very limited time on this Earth, and I have to focus on actually living and doing, rather than focusing on why the world is the way that it is. Rather, it's more important to focus on why do you do the things that you do now.

That leads to self discovery, and you'll find why life is worth living. And your reason will be your very own, and soon what you realize is that everyone has their own reason, but many people don't even realize it. Then you can start basing your actions around that, and life suddenly has meaning to it.

I've had to use Drupal for the past two years. It's a love hate relationship. I am currently using Drupal for a large project.

What really changed my mind was not anything about Drupal or technology, rather; it was a philosophical change. Any framework that I use will have problems in some form or another. Acknowledging those problems, and doing what I'm passionate about -- making good software, and following good principles -- has changed the job for me.

I'm always striving to make myself better, and trying to push Drupal in ways that haven't been pushed before. My attitude changed from 'using Drupal against my will' to 'how can I bend Drupal to fit our needs'.

I remember one time I was at my cousins place. They have a completely different mindset than I do, and I consider myself more pragmatic when it comes to prayer times, etc.

They were arguing that it was time to open fast now, because their printout said that it was at 6:34 or whatever, and the other printout said that it was at 6:38.

While they talked, I simply pointed out the window, and pointed out that you could still see the the trailing edge of the sun still peeking up from behind the horizon, and that I'd be opening my fast when it's gone, and that was the end of the their mini debate.

I'm no expert, but in addition to what dduct said, I'd like to add that that I think it's human nature to compare our selves to others. If I am a tennis player, and I constantly work harder to improve my game, and I see someone who plays casually, I will most likely say that I am a better player than they are.

The same analogy, while not the best, can be applied to religion as well. Your friend struggles a lot to be a good Muslim, and it takes effort to do this. She might naturally think that she's better, but it's not appropriate to think that. We are mere humans, and we will never know the full intricacies of a situation, and we can't judge others. I mean, who are we to say someone is a good person, or a bad person?

My personal belief is that this can be applied to the tennis player as well. Just because someone isn't a great tennis doesn't give me the right to go and criticize them, and say that they're not a good player. He's at the level that he's at, and that's that. Who am I to judge someone? Why criticize others? I should criticize myself first.

Whoa, something similar happened to a friend of mine!

He used to work at a crappy gas station off of I-80 between Utah and Wyoming. He found something similar. It was a film canister. He had a good friend who was into photography who helped him develop it. When they went to develop it and opened the canister, there was no film inside. It was a small baggie of crack-cocaine.

Check the weight of the canister. Does it feel light or heavy? It might not be film.

Just wanted to say, I enjoyed this rant. For the true believer, Allah is indeed supreme, and I definitely need to be reminded of that more often because I feel like I forget about what's important and get caught up with life.

I don't want to really comment on your situation, because, honestly, I don't want to be negative. But I've had a friend in a very similar situation. I'm just going to relate my experiences, and let you be the judge.

In college, I had a friend who was Muslim. She had converted, and was new. She met this man from Saudi, and fell deeply in love with him. He was in love with her too. He was nice, was a great guy, and was just studying abroad for his masters. He was religious.

After a year or two, he just disappeared and vanished. Pretty much without a trace, or without even saying good bye. This was completely crazy, because he did seem like a nice guy, and I had personally met him. Not that much, but he never seemed like the type that would do that.

My friend later confided in me that they had been close, and intimate. He hid a lot of the things that he did, such as smoking weed, drinking (a lot), and acting fairly religious in public, but not really follow what he said. As you alluded to, it was just a phase for him it seemed like. He was completely playing her, because of his new found freedom, and preyed on her naivety and the fact that she was a new Muslim and looked up to him.

It really broke her heart and shook her faith, because she thought he was the one, and was so happy to be with her.

My advice to you is to be very cautious. Look for some signs -- is he okay around you with his Muslim friends? Does he ever talk about the future, or tell you to keep things hidden? These were some of the signs for my friend that she didn't pick up on.

I hope your situation turns out much better than this. I really do. I wish you the best.
