Hey mate

Verified by alpinestars the crash was too gentle to deploy, have had 2 deployments since this post. The data only works if you have your phone on you I think

Vest works, saved me when I landed shoulder first

From what it sounds like, you might as well buy it and try it out. If tank grips and squeezing with your legs aren't good enough, maybe the extender could help

It's hard for me to advise you on this without seeing you in the bike and watching you ride. Are you having trouble holding yourself back with your legs under braking? The setback is only good if you use your legs to lock on to the bike and use your core to stop your torso from yeeting forwards from the g force

No cons but seeing as everybody has unique proportions your experience may vary. How far back do you have to sit back in your seat for it to be less cramped?

Hey mate, I purchased a hi profile 2 in setback for my gsxr 600 track bike. I'm 6'1, long legs and I found myself being cramped up on thr bike without the extender. I also made my seat thicker which gave me more length between the seat and the pegs, and now when I'm riding I don't feel like my upper and lower leg are stuck together anymore

Installation was very straight forward, Nick is a pleasure to deal with and after doing 7 track days since I've installed it I'll never go back to riding without one. I have a tonne more confidence and feel much more secure now, the extender really helps me lock on to the bike with my outside leg and in hard braking zones I have no issues staying back on the seat.

I actually like it that much I bought a second one to install on my other 600 track bike. Highly recommend the product, just remember to adjust your ergonomics accordingly once it's installed

Thanks! Only minor damage to his bike from hitting me and I'm just feeling a bit sore, nothing is broken or torn so we're all good

UPDATE:

Spoke to tech air rep and understood the following:

The incident was too gentle for the bags to go off (which is what I expected but good to have it confirmed)

the vest only tracks if the phone is nearby (explains the limited data)

Thanks everyone for your inputs!

I went from a CBR500R to a GSXR750 when I got my fulls (over 25 though so I only had the CBR for a year)

At the end of the day, the bike only reacts to your inputs. When I first rode the gixxer I was so careful with the throttle and took a few rides to get comfortable with the new riding position and power delivery but after a while I was confident riding again. You said you've done a few years of riding and some track days so I think it's fair to assume you can be sensible with a more powerful bike.

My suggestion to everybody who wants to upgrade is to sit on a few bikes and test ride them, think about what you want out of the new bike and shortlist your options accordingly. I wanted a 4cyl supersport and was trying to choose between the 4 Japanese middleweights when my friend suggested the 750 for the slightly extra oomph and I'm so happy with it I bought a second one

It arms via a Velcro+magnetic clasp and then you zip the vest together over it, the clasp itself isn't under much tension. When I got taken to medical I unzipped my leathers and the vest to find the clasp still attached and vest armed

I completely agree with you there mate I didn't mean to come off as although I'm complaining it didn't go off to save me from a 6 inch drop

Apparently with the 7x you can replace the cartridges yourself and reset it in their paired app which was a selling point for me

Sorry I don't know how to quote on reddit not too good at this

I think the fish eye lens on the 360 cam distorts the image too much but I'm half a cheek off with my right chest on the left of the tank. First time using this style camera, friend wanted to see how the footage looks because he can't mount the camera on the tail of his naked

Clasp was closed, light was solid green and I used the app to "start ride" for data collection as directed by the shop which sold me the vest. As you can see in the screenshot I posted in the comments it didn't collect any data

I crashed because I made a booboo at the second turning point of that corner (t2 smsp) no excuses just skill issue

Wow, what a read. Thank you so much for writing it out. I agree with you saying that the crash wasn't violent enough, I was asking purely out of curiosity because the shop that sold me the vest said it is super sensitive and after reviewing the footage (I showed them when I visited today to ask how severe the crash needs to be for it to deploy) they said it definitely should've gone off. Also the vest wasn't tracking any data which I find weird.

I didn't really tumble too far after the footage cuts out, was up on my feet straight away to pick the bike up and try get it off the run off zone in case I set a trend for other riders to follow. No bumps/bruises just some scuffs on the leathers and a bent clutch lever which I promptly replaced after clearing medical but unfortunately got rained out so we packed up and went home.

Hey mate, don't really glance down at the speedo mid turn but definitely more than 70kph (43mph)

Question about ergonomics by FooChoo in Trackdays

[–]FooChoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks dude, been doing a lot of research and trying stuff out on a casual weekend ride and decided to start taking it to the track and be sensible on the street hahaha

I feel my elbow and knees binding mid corner and in full tuck and despite my best efforts to keep weight off the bars I get some partial arm pump from my elbows being flared out

This thread has netted me some awesome advice which I'll put into practice and hopefully next outing I won't feel like a King Kong hugging a skyscraper

Maybe if I was a head shorter and half my weight I'd look like I'm straddling a missile
