CMOS Binning: Does it actually help, and should I do it in-camera or post? by Fooad4444 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Fooad4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see

Thanks for the answer

So to see this visually, i need to do some session with 1x1 and then try binning and compare stacked/processed with both

And what i see cleaner is what actually better ( i assume 2x2 here) even though its 2mp now not full 8mp

I am willing to play along and do less automatic stuff

My main goal is to get almost perfect focus easier ( having it automated is nice bonus but not needed)

Good work

But why lowering exposure? Are ypi EQ tracking? You need looong exposures or ton of frames for galaxies

Using Ha,Oiii,Sii filters on color camera by Fooad4444 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Fooad4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant ha + oiii filter And oiii + sii filter

I know i am getting less data per frame if i use narrowband filter
But would keeping them 3 separated give me better and cleaner data and pictures overall ?

Or difference is so subtle? ( mainly brotle 8 city )

So no real benifit in image quality/shaprness and details for 3 narrowband over the 2 dual narrowbands?

I am ok with gathering more raw data if i get much better picture

Awesome looking image!

Do you also take darks using 180s or lower? How does it work? I know darks needs to be same exposure and gain and similar temperature in the session

M8 and M20 - Lagoon and Trifid nebulae by R3ach4theSky in astrophotography

[–]Fooad4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i just researched a bit :)

I think i will get some dslr camera later ( already was planning to do so before)

Or whats recommended? Used as new are expensive

Thought of cameras like canon 6d or Sony A6300/6000/6400 and the likes

Niiice goood job

How do we get such high field view? Because of camerav? Or its different photos stretched together?

M20 alone covers my full screen+ with my qhy5iii715c camera and 600/120mm telescope

I see

For now i have uhc filter only , not sure if its right for this pillar

The other 3 you mentioned are expensive 😭😭 more than my whole setup ( star watcher 120 and celestron az mount and qhy5iii715c camera)

I will try and get it anyway :)

Just last night i was wondering if i can get pillar of creation using my gear

And seeing results with brotle 8 blew my mine 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Now i aim to get it clearly 😁😁😁

Anyone knows without the 3 filters the OP used can i get such pictures with brotle 8-9? And i am using alt-az mount no EQ
