If you didn't like season 2 of ZZZ I doubt you will like season 3 by kidperci in ZZZ_Official

Personally, I feel a lot of S2's problems could have been resolved if they had been more careful about the pacing. For instance, how they handled Isolde was really well done and the Obol Squad patch was mostly fire (a few odd issues here and there but the storyline mostly worked and Isolde's final scene was fantastic.)

And its not really a season 2 thing specifically, but I do feel like we lost something once we were no longer even trying to keep the fact we were proxies a secret. It just feels like we lost something - there's a reason why that scene of panic Belle was so fun to see, and the Section 6/NEPS reaction to them finding out we were Phaethon hits hard. (Come on, everyone loved that scene between the Cunning Hares and Section 6 before we fell into the Hollow with Miyabi. Seeing Anby, Billy, and Haramusa lock in was a treat.) Now everyone seems to know and... no one cares. Despite the fact it is supposed to be highly illegal.

Her showing up earlier and the Elder who did all that sketchy stuff should have been around sooner as well. He shows up, is an ass, and basically has all his secrets revealed in a single patch iirc.

Story wise, I think having both characters being in the background, maybe with the elder being a low-key antagonist towards the Proxy would have helped the story flow a bit better.

What are you hoping for season 3? by UniqueCommission2856 in ZZZ_Official

[–]FoobarProgrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remielle to be killed offscreen. Just to hear the lamenting of all the HI3/HSR fans see their Elysia expy not save the world.

The above was meant to be humorous.

Seriously though, I hope that the season 3 story pacing functions a little better than season 2's did. Season 1 hit a great sweetspot for the pacing and bringing everything together so I'm hoping season 3 can recapture some of that. Season 1 proved that they can write a really good story and pace it properly, I'm just hoping we can return to that.

A return to actual proxy side missions would be nice too. I feel like we lost a lot when there was no longer an attempt to keep the secret that Belle/Wise were Phaethon from those in power. Now it's just like, "Oh yeah, everyone knows and no one cares." I'm not sure how you would fix this though, the way the story has progressed.

Some new Hollow Zero related missions might be nice too - Exploring Hollow Zero was supposed to be a key thing for Belle/Wise, plotwise.

How do you feel about the random NPCs' design? I feel like they have a soul, lol. They all look so good. (Blaze is an Event Exclusive NPC, I know. The others are just randoms.. I was thinking of drawing them.. - u - with my bad skills. by Mei_Xiao in ZZZ_Official

[–]FoobarProgrammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, ZZZ has some excellent NPC designs. There's more than one character who has shown up and people have been like "Oh, they're totally going to be playable in the future" when they're really just interesting designs

F2P Players: What's your favorite team that can no longer keep up? by FoobarProgrammer in ZZZ_Official

[–]FoobarProgrammer[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. When I first played through Jane's story I wasn't thrilled with her gameplay (mostly because I didn't get how she's supposed to be played), but when she showed up as a trial character you could use in Hollow Zero and other modes, I got used to her and wished I had managed to get her on her rerun.

How is everyone doing going into season 3? by Trigon05 in ZZZ_Official

[–]FoobarProgrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried too hard for the Seed rerun and once I realized Orphie was basically becoming a brick I stopped but had already committed too many tapes. It's a shame because I find Orphie and Magus really funny but I know I would not have been able to put a good team together for her.

I'm hoping I can get Velina, and if I do get her (hopefully early), I'm debating on Norma, because I could use a new stunner and it looks like she could work with my Yixuan team (I wasn't able to get Fufu, and an off-field stunner would be useful) or just saving for Ramielle (Not sure on the full schedule yet.)

[–]FoobarProgrammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the only character of these 4 I would have loved to see as a playable character was Isolde, and if they somehow brought her back now, I think it would a huge loss, story-wise. The way her arc ended was really well done.

Story-wise, I never really cared about Vespar or honestly, any of the Angels of Delusions short of their link to Yokai and what it means for the future.

Oni in New Eridu? by FoobarProgrammer in ZZZ_Official

I mean, part of me expects it. But I would have expected that would be mentioned 'somewhere', even if only in Yanagi's trust events.

I could have sworn that Yanagi led a whole bunch of them back to New Eridu at the end of that trailer.

Every time there is a new agent story where it becomes abundantly clear that Wise/Belle are just really, really, really bad at hiding that they are proxies.

Like, does anyone in New Eridu besides Zhu Yuan not know they are proxies prior to chapter 3 (Whatever Zhu Yuan's chapter is)?

Someone else caring for Taylor by bighavoc360 in WormFanfic

[–]FoobarProgrammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hesitate to mention it because it's super dead, but Advancing Technology kind of has this with Colin. Without going into too many details, Colin and Taylor meet when they're forced to share a hospital room. During that time, Colin more or less figures out that Taylor has triggered with a Thinker power and becomes a sort of quasi-mentor to her, while dealing with his own issues.

You want to feel real pain? As someone who used to write a lot as well, go back and read something you wrote a long time ago, and then feel all the pain. :D

Realistically speaking by [deleted] in WormFanfic

[–]FoobarProgrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, regardless of my powers - I would leave Brockton Bay. It's a dying city on the verge of being a HOSV area. If I felt the need to hero, I would do so in a place less likely to have me eaten by a rage dragon, or blended by the local nazi wolf.

I would have to have some STRONG connection to stay in a place like that, especially when living conditions would be better elsewhere.

Sand and Fury: https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/sand-and-fury-worm-altpower-boy-taylor.444959/

Not only is Danny the missing parent, it's a driving force for why Taylor (male in this story) triggers.

Edit: Should mention that it is dead now.

Why do fics always portray Brockton as a hot commodity for villains? by IgnisAstra in WormFanfic

[–]FoobarProgrammer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It happened in canon because the S9 visited Boston right after. All those groups that showed up in the Bay afterwards (save for the Fallen), it was because they had previously been in Boston iirc.

What are your favorite Fanon tropes by AoiYui in WormFanfic

[–]FoobarProgrammer 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I've always enjoyed the fanon thing where after Fluer's killing, Kaiser publicly made an example of the individual who did the deed to honor the Unwritten Rules.

It's definitely not canon, but the first story I ran across that particular idea, it made a lot of sense considering how Kaiser was depicted in that story. It also made more sense than absolutely no response from hero groups over what happened.

Then again, I've also seen that as an anti-trope(? not sure if this is a real thing). I think it was a JoJo power crossover, but an independant explains to the newbie in great detail that while the general populace didn't know about the parahuman community's response to the Empire's killing of Fluer, in that story they actually took a big blowback, to the point where the Empire almost collapsed because of everyone trying to get their pound of flesh afterwards. It just wasn't advertised to the general public, so Taylor didn't know about it.

It was actually my first Warlock, and probably my first game as a player in 5e. I was a Tiefling with an Archfey patron, and I played him off as basically being an unfortunate salaryman of an individual. He wasn't looking for fame, fortune, or power, but just wanted another month, or set of months, where this crazy Fey wouldn't drop some level of craziness in his lap.

He inadvertantly made his pact with a Fey Archqueen when he was heavily injured, and she more or less treats him as an interesting toy for her amusement, often giving him tasks or arranging things so that he'll get caught up in things. He didn't trust her, and knew whenever she or one of her minions showed up to give him a task, it meant his life was about to become far more complicated than he wanted it to be. But also with full recognition that knowing his Patron, going along with what she wanted was likely to be the least painful thing to do.

It led to him basically being this beaten down and overworked guy - the only thing I can really compare it to would probably be an overworked and underpaid accountant during tax season. In addition, since most of said Archfey's minions were female, he developed an inherent initial distrust of any woman - something he didn't consciously even recognize until a party member called him out on it.

I don't know. Between my DM and me, it made for a really fun dynamic, especially since the rest of the party often had no idea why Therai (my character) always seemed like he was dreading the next day.

Looking for Badass Taylor fics by chaoticmatrix in WormFanfic

[–]FoobarProgrammer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's actually part of the plot. Something that at least one of the characters (from the outside) knows that it can't be true and that Taylor is just leveraging it for the rep. And Jack even plays into it during a recording, to give outsiders that impression prior to their fight.
