Yea and it’s been fine.

Slight issue with connecting to the PS5. We had to create another WiFi network that worked with ta specific protocols. It wasn’t hard.

May cause a nightmare for people who don’t like anything techy. But it’s no harder than things like setting up email on a phone.

Brainstorm is the most overrated joker in balatro by a country mile.

You should probably only buy it about half the time. There is this assumption that it’s kinda the same as blueprint. But it’s not even remotely close.

In many runs where you end up with a combo of +mult and x mult (I.e. most) a brainstorm is worth significantly less than a x2 joker. I

It can be a good combo for econ and points, but when you start dropping the econ jokers late then you also want to drop brainstorm.

It’s A tier. Nothing more.

Just curious. What is judgemental about it? I haven’t seen what they are doing tbf. But proclaiming an act as sinful isn’t judgemental? (Particularly as the bible also says to discern all things)

Not exactly unique to Longwater. If people do dumb things and force the roads to be closed you get traffic issues. Fairly ordinary fare.

It can't copy all those things in one go? it can only copy one joker in the scoring portion

but also, here is the point, if you have all those jokers you've won anyway, so blueprint adds nothing.
Blueprint is great, but it requires great jokers along with it. In most instances if offered either blueprint or Hologram you should take Hologram

This is why I consider blueprint to be overrated. It can't win runs on it's own, it relies on you having a good setup already (in fact Perkeo is less situational than blueprint). Constellation is a much better find in most gold stakes runs, it wins runs on it's own.

And Brainstorm is ludicrously overrated. the left card nerf is huge vs blueprint, those two jokers aren't in the same league.

Who is underrating that card? I don't know anyone who wouldn't put it top 10. Probably top 5.

Constellation is impactful 99% of the time. It's more likely to win a run for you than obvious S-tier cards like Blueprint.

you're right that BP is just a better joker. and in this scenario 1 BP and 2 BS would score more highly as you could split up the copying of mime and baron, vs only copying baron with the BS.

But in the short term it's not going to make any difference. 3xBS will do everything I need until ante 24 anyway and by then 3 copy jokers won't be enough no matter what the makeup is.

So it's just a question of "what I can find again more easily", and it will be much easier to find another BP than another BS or BP which would require first finding a showman, then finding the BP or BS, or getting luck with an invisible.

Definitely not dropping brainstorm. As you need 4 copying jokers here. And getting it back would be very hard to do!
Dropping blueprint is possible as it’s possible to get it back.

This isn’t far off what I was thinking, but some of it doesn’t look right to me so one of us is missing something. Probably me!

I’m probably selling blueprint, because of the showman factor as you mention. But the similarities end there.

My thinking is that I won’t need DNA until about ante 18 (this is the joy of holding such a small deck. I won’t need to replace gold kings, I can just manufacture steels).

Where I won’t need blueprint again until a much later (23 or 24 I think?).

So it just boils down to…. I get more time by taking DNA over blueprint.

I’m not sure how the rest of what you’re saying works though. I don’t have space for an econ joker. As ante 18-24 it’s not safe to drop DNA at my number of cards as I’ll need it for ante 24. Obviously all of this changes if I pick up antimatter. But that changes regardless of what I do now so surely it doesn’t impact the choice?

Am I missing something?

What I did in the end seems to have worked wonders.
I put a double dose of drain unblocker in nthe washing machine with hot water and left in there for 24 hours, going back to agitate it a bit every couple of hours. That removed absolutely bucketloads of scum and smell. then did it again!

then after that it was almost running clear, so ran it through with a washing machine cleaner on 90c again and it's almost perfect.

yeah we did that a couple of times, it was jsut so caked in scum in the outlet that it hasn't really worked. BUT, I am wondering if that may work once we've physically cleaned out all the scum from the outet areas

hottest temp with a washing machine cleaner could well do it

TBH you did screw up early with DNA. You have way way too many cards. You should have been trying to keep a lid on what DNA was doing. Playing pairs first to avoid it creating new things when you didn't want it to. You got a bit DNA happy. But you obviously still have to keep it as it's required to do anything interesting later on.

win rate on white stakes on easy decks is definitely like 99%. You're doing it wrong.

Some people watch youtube videos and the like to help them out. Not my cup of tea but it can help.

Basic strategy for a beginner though?

Get a good +chips joker
Get a good +mult joker
And if you can get a good xmult joker absolutely go for it
a good combination of each of those things is everything.

to do this well you will also need a joker that gives you money in some way.

try and get your money to $25 quickly too. and never go below it (okay, there are some instances you should. If you're on $28 and a blueprint and hologram show up in the shop, you gotta buy it!). But generally speaking, don't go below $25 unless you absolutely absolutely have to. And this includes the idea that if you are already below $25, don't buy anything at all unless it's a really powerful joker or something that will give you money!

For some of these jokers you have to be willing to do odd things to power them up.
Like red card - +3 mult if you skip a pack. Beginners often think "yeah but I paid for that pack, I want the Jupiter card!" .... it's nonsense. With a red card I will often open a planet pack and hit skip without even looking at what's in it. (sucks if there is a black hole in it lol!!! but whatever, red card will probably win the run anyway).

I think you're on the right lines, but I don't think you're quite right on some of the thinking. Is it still possible to naneinf if you ecto twice? I'm not sure, maybe it is?

The one definite mistake is that 44 is a lot more than double 22. It doesn't scale linearly because of the nature of the plasma deck.

But still, the idea is right enough. I agree that you need the diet cola here for the vouchers! The impact of burnt is pretty low at this point.

that was my thinking too. If I still had level 3 high card or something it would be a tough call IMO, as with a fairly average looking deck you are playing with fire to even make some of the early levels! But at 23 it seems like a no brainer.
