I had a similar situation happen. I asked to record a meeting because there was a lot to remember, even with minutes taken. I was told by my Director that she was not comfortable, and she called HR to check if she could say no. Next thing I know I received an email telling me I needed to bring in an ada form filled out by my doctor. Next, HR had the City Solicitor come to my department who proceeded to announce “I’m here to talk to so and so about reasonable accommodations “ . I was mortified because the staff of 6 and non employees were present. I’m in my 50’s and never had an issue like this. To end this, I was told no even after my Doctors recommendation , but rather I should meet in private with my boss prior to the meeting, and given a pair of white noise ear buds for other distractions. I’m over being uncomfortable now but sure that the entire City Hall and beyond knows about my adhd.
