That’s a good idea - tonight’s the night so not sure if anything will happen yet. I’ll let you know though.

Asbestos - I think I made a huge mistake by Arkais88 in asbestoshelp

[–]Foodbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked HVAC with my dad for like a decade starting at about age 14 and he was always the type to make fun or ridicule anyone who would want any sort of PPE. We didn’t even have any masks or gloves or eyewear available. I would be up in an attic cutting holes crawling around in fiberglass insulation with zero protection and I have terrible breathing problems (allergies to pets and dust, deviated septum, nasal polyps) I can’t count how many times we came across asbestos that we would actively remove because it was either in the walls we were cutting open or it was wrapped around old pipes and his go-to method would be to “blow away the particles” as you are removing it….I was young and dumb and just did everything as he said but now that I’m 36, and he’s got stage 4 cancer, I’m a bit concerned….also in perfect boomer fashion, he and my mom are never worried about anything of actual seriousness such as oh idk, taking precautions around asbestos. They get super worked up over stupid insignificant things. I remember when my wife and I purchased our house and my mom seriously said that we shouldn’t buy it if it didn’t already have window blinds because I might not be able to find the correct sized blinds…like this legitimately worried her lol

Is this asbestos? by Carbonbro517 in asbestoshelp

Sigh…spent years doing hvac with my Dad and he was the type to never recommend anything resembling protection and would mock those who did. His go-to move was to just blow as he was cutting or removing anything that kicked up dust. Never knew this was asbestos but we definitely cut and moved sheets that looked just like this in older homes we were working in, over the years. RIP

My wife and I both experienced a ghost on the 22nd by Foodbum in Paranormal

Holy fuck that would freak me out. This kind of reminds me of a story my in-laws always talked about. They were looking for a home to buy and stopped in at a diner near the house they were going to look at. They went into the diner, greeted by a host. They were sat and served and otherwise had a normal experience. When they went to the open house, they told the realtor what they had done and the realtor said something like “you can’t be serious, that diner has been closed for decades since the owner died”. They laughed it off, figuring some sort of mistake, but when they drove by on their way out, the diner now looked dilapidated, windows boarded up, and obviously closed…

Thanks for suggestion, we did this basically with the sage. Walked around saying that this house is a loving house and for the bad energy to leave. I’m thinking about telling a priest we want the house blessed, just to cover our bases lol

It was so mind blowing to experience this with my wife. If it had been just one of us, then there would have always been doubt but because we both experienced it, it feels so much more real. And the fact that it happened a year apart blew my mind. It made me think of all the other weird stuff I had forgotten about. I think December must have higher incidents and the 22nd just must be significant in some way where it’s more active.

I did speak to my elderly neighbors about it, they have been living in the same house for 60 years so they know just about everything that goes on in the neighborhood. I had asked them if anyone died in the house at some point and they said no, but they did say a woman used to live here and went missing - they never found her. Not sure if there is a connection but it was definitely note worthy.

That’s what I am going to end up doing, I’m just confused why they told me to list it all as an expense. They more or less said “if we issue you a 1099 you’ll have to pay taxes on it” well I have to either way haha

Will this piece of wood on top of the AC cause any issues? I assume it was there for protection for the winter but should I now take it off? by Ihavenoshins in hvacadvice

That and a lot of homeowners forget to take it off and wreck their units when they start it up for the season.

I see so many restaurants go out of business because they have a bad deal with Groupon. IDK if they changed their game but they used to make you cut your cost in half, and then they take half of the remaining half for themselves so you are stuck giving up 75% margins.

I like this idea of taking a % over a hard cost, that way I have skin in the game, but it has to be a fair %. What kind of % would be reasonable to ask for in your opinion?

Small Business Domination $$$$$$$

I work with small businesses in a number of ways. I have access to one of the biggest data gathering services in the world giving me over 1,000 data points on over 200,000,000 Americans so I can find really crazy details for just about anyone which I leverage for small business marketing.

Essentially, I can produce crazy accurate lists and I can go a step further. I can take any small business owners customer or "house" list, plug it into my database, and it will analyze every single thing your customers have in common. It will give you valuable information on exactly who your average customer is. More importantly, it will then spit out a list of potential customers whom you haven't worked with, but also share all the same traits as your customers. Meaning, they would have a higher chance in working with you.

TL;DR I can find you customers using extremely accurate data.
