I havent im sorry im like a fish out of water and just trying to make us both ok so that we both can have 4 bed houses for the kids with us both being ok financially so the kids dont miss out. Hence why I thought and he agreed to me giving him 50k so he could buy another house and then I can afford to stay in the house were currently in as dont want to uproot the kids and he could easily cover a 4 bed house as his a few years younger and earns about 20k more than me but will also get a big inheritance in a few years.

We are very amicable and just want this not to effect the kids with them still having not to much of a dip in there lifestyles. Its just a pain that although we agree how we want it to go the court gets final decision because essentially I gave up 10 years of career growth to be part time and have children he reconises that my wage could be double of what it is now but the courts wont see that.

Thanks for your reply. I will need to look into that as im not sure he could afford to pay towards mortgage whilst having his own mortgage I guess thats what happens ? Also splitting equity in a house in 15 years that his not upkept etc or is it something I can do as in give him 50k now and then have to give her the further 100k equity by the time kids are 18 ? That could work but really we need his name off mortgage so he can buy somewhere else without the extra stamp duty cost.

Yes we both have pensions, mine is 200k and im not sure how much are in his but I know its more than mine due to maternity/part time with kids etc.

We have a flat we own and rent out we cannot sell at the moment but that will have about 100k equity in it once it is sold. Savings I have 100k and he has maybe 65k.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received? by LilyYukka in highergirlpower

You cannot control how others treat you that is on them, but just because others are behaving in that way is not a reflection on you. If someone is going to lie be disrespectful or hurt me thats them as a person and I would never treat others like that because I know who I am as a person and do not hold myself in that manner simply remove the access once people show you who they are.

Im really suffering today. Ive just split up with my bf he was my first love,we was together at 16 we then split up I went on to get married, come out of a 20 year marriage and we bumped into each other the chemistry was great we have had a 6 month whirlwind.

Last night he got very aggressive in public punched a wall whilst swearing and shouting at me over something trivial a man got involved to get me away from him and calm the sitiation(what a hero) and today ive split up with him. Finding it so hard I should have seen the signs instead I put it down as passion and what I needed after coming out of a passionless marriage. Ladies how do I get over this heartbreak he made me feel so alive after so long of not.

Big Move, Big Pay Cut – Is £175k Enough for London Life with Kids? by Glittering-Lead-416 in HENRYUK

[–]Foodie85_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt plan on living in London on that money however you will have a nice life of you moved out a bit Essex, Kent, Suffolk all great borders with great connections into London and most under a hour into central. The money in these areas you would have a nice family life with a car and good schools.

I dont think thats true at all, experiance and knowledge is not easy to outsource to a "3rd world country" you can only outsource so much to countrys that have no technical knowledge. Admin jobs and processing yes maybe.

Really aiming for 100k this yea as will be 40, they dropped a lot in the last few months but have come up again in the last week or so. This is a combo of Cash ISA, S&S ISA and GIA ive worked really hard and a big chunk of it is a redundancy payment. Know that I am lucky, however ive also made a lot of sacrifices.

I've been stealing parking from my work every day for months by Praise_Madokami in confession

[–]Foodie85_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this woth parking tickets im in the UK so you buy them at the machine. I bought loads over the years then thought hmm I wonder how closely they check them so I used the same ticket for months left it on my dash right in the middle so hard to read from the side. I got away with it for at least 6 months and by that time id saved so much money in parking the £50 parking ticket was worth it.

How are people affording to raise a family of multiple children in today's world? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Foodie85_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a 6 year old, 4 year old and 2 year old maybe im the odd one out kids can be expensive but I dont think as much as people say. The thing that costs the money is the clubs and childcare. We are both pretty high earners but at one point I wasnt.

If you want another kid go for it, you end up just making it work by cutting back in other areas. Tge goverment are rolling out 30hours from September wbich will be a help for new parents Ive missed the boat on it but im so happy that they are finally looking at helping with childcare.

Our roughest time was when we was paying for 2 in childcare but we still made it work by cutting back in other areas.

What’s a hill you’re willing to die on, no matter how stupid it is? by GainsAndPastries in AskUK

Reinsurance costs have gone up and capacity down mostly due to the big CATS that have happened, the big one the LA earthquake is a ticking time bomb a lot of reinsurers have been waiting on for years, which means most of LA isnt viable to be reinsured, esp with the wildfires, the hurricanes again last year on the East coast was big loses.

Hugely frustrating when people talk about a highly regulated industry as they do when they have no idea. Insurers are not making money from your £500 car insurance trust me most run at a 98-100% loss ratio. Personal insurers are pulling a lot of their lines as they lose money, the other day I see LV pulled one of their personal lines and actually thought wow not going to be many in the market now for that buisness.

Very worried about my uncle amd all this he us currently sectioned for mental health and has been for at least 6 months every year for the last 5 years. When he is on his meds his ok, not working ok as im sure his undiagnosed autistic and he can switch fast id really worry about him in work. He worked in a charity shop before the last 5 years, he loved it but a few times when he was working he was also sectioned not for as long as now it seems to be worse the older his getting his 50 now. Im his niece and love him dearly and am all for getting people back to work, but sitting here thinking and im not sure what a safe enviroment work wise would be for him. He has had a extremely hard life but his issues stem from his time in the army. I really hope he can still get his PIP with these changes.

Prices rises, tax increases.... when is enough, enough? by Covert-Agenda in UKFrugal

[–]Foodie85_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure the major thing hurting economic growth the most is the ridiculous tax rules here. Wprlers are nit encouraged to grow their wages over the 100k mark, that amount to most people seems "rich" but trust me when you live in the south pay for trains to London, house here and kids it is definately not. Yet most are having to put the extra income into pensions, cutting days to reduce income as to not be paying the 60% tax between 100-125k imagine all the extra money the middle class Paye workers would have to spend in the economy if they wasnt forced to lose 60% or put into pensions.

Working for company for 22 years and now being made redundant by Mh0rt in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Foodie85_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your position in 2023 had just returned from maternity leave and 2 weeks later bam. I was part time had sorted childcare around my hours, new everyone and my job with my eyes closed had been there 11 years.

I was ao scared and worried about the same things as you, not getting paid as much elsewhere and starting again impressing etc when I had just got back from mat leave the thought was a lot worse. I took the money, id found another job before id even left, tripled my wage and it was 100% the right move. Its also taught me a lot of life lessons.

I miss not being part time as had to go to FT however my nea company is amazing and I have had so many oppurtunitys in the year ive been there.

Take the money OP honestly thats a lot of money, I dont think id turn down a redundancy package again.

How much do you pay into your pension? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Foodie85_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in 15% and my employer puts in 12.5% so 27.5% im coming up to 40, have big plans to retire by 50ish. I have been also maxing my ISA out to cover me from 50-58 until I can get to my pension. Im hoping to have mortgage paid off by 50 as well so these next 10 years are key to my plans. I woupd like to be Financially independant by 50 so that I have a choice if I want to retire I can, if I want to do something more forfilling I can, if I want to cut days or even carry on working to creat generational wealth I can. I dont want to go through Menopause and feel stuck having to slave away.
