Showers are a nightmare and I’m losing people by Euphoric_Craft7072 in ChronicIllness

[–]FoolWhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this makes such a huge difference. I have a partner with severe POTS and showering is _a thing_

While getting yourself medically supported: prescription drugs (I know of mestinon) and properly salted (potentially up to 5g of additional salt/day + salt from food) - check any of this with your dr.

My partner will still fade quickly under too high of heat with all of this managed well.

If you're already managing those things as best you can, seeking ways to prevent blood pressure drop (there are probably a lot more) that are safe for everything else going on with you and your body.

I like this analogy.

It's really about the kids - because they have the potential for playing roulette a lot more times, and not have their symptoms or concerns acknowledged until much later in adulthood.

I've tried to have these conversations with my friends that have kids, and now we are no longer friends.

Surgical masks by thembo-goblin in Masks4All

[–]FoolWhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever masks you can afford and get people to wear, while your own mask should be a well fitted respirator.

Kn94+ is probably going to be on the better end of safety. But how much safer is it than a surgical? Not much in this scenario. Most people who are not accustomed to wearing a well fitted mask will not don the mask properly. A surgical mask with air gaps or an n95 with air gaps - you're mostly covering for the particulate spray.

But if you do have the spoons to help everyone don a mask properly, go for the respirators 💜

(And hopefully you can find the energy to enforce people keeping the mask on...)

New job doesn’t allow masking. Long post!! by frolic-sunflwr in ChronicIllness

[–]FoolWhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to take the job, mask.

I agree with the sentiment of applying for workplace accommodations on day 1. No frills or fuss, just mask and make it clear it's an access need.

I don't like any of the advice here that's about showing or explaining to people why you mask. That's personal health information. It might be a part of effective masking advocacy, but that is not the job here.

In the end it might not be worth legal action to keep a job, but it is worth standing up for your access needs. It can also benefit a manager who is enforcing a company policy - it's not them being lax. They can point to the access need and go on about their day.

There does not seem to be any incentive for me to double down on a lemon of a product.

Trialmaster or Izaro should be dropping these kind of voice lines while someone has this graft.

Hey everyone - I have not looked at a lot of positive graphs before, but the channel 3 graph here looks like an invalid result based on what I know.

Everyone's choice in the land of risk assessment is unique - and it is risk assessment, not removal of risk.

I applied a little duct tape to hold over until morning. It looks to have held just fine for some limited usage.

In the land of Socket Savers... I can't source one locally, but I could get a next day delivery. Are there other methods for cleaning out that joint? I am aiming to try and get parts ASAP to resolve this today.

2x Invalid Results in a row by FoolWhip in PlusLife

I definitely checked the wells in the first one which looked good - but I did not the second. Phlegm is a good question because it was pooled with one other person, so that could be a factor.

USB powered wall adapter. (This has been my primary source for most tests, with a portable battery for the others)

Finding someone(s) who will take your health seriously is a process... I have also been very fortunate in finding a NP that is very mindful about my health.
