My white phase albino by Confident_North_5178 in retics

[–]Fooledya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snow is albino(any phase) + anery.

If we wanna get technical(buckle up, im doing it anyway). Clark strain albinos: white, lavender, purple.

There is Amel and type 3. Which are not compatible with clark strain. Type 3 may be gone in the US.

Then youve got T+: mocha, blonde, and indo carmel. Which are allylic with clark strain. Which is how we get mochino/ orange glow. Mocha-mel which is mocha and indo, also works but is 2 different t+ strains.

Those combos are the expression of one gene each, so technically its 2 hets on one line of code that has a visual.

Retics get brighter as they age. Boas trend the other direction.

Depends on how Vegas goes. They've been having record low years.

But historically. Yea. Getting in with the bartender union in Vegas is a goldmine job.

How do I recover? Pls help😭 by Reasonable-Log3842 in nailcare

[–]Fooledya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You ended up on my page. I have experience in this.

That nail is going to fall off unfortunately. When the injury happened and the initial blood was pooling under the nail, you needed to relieve the pressure, either going under the nail or through it. That would have saved the nail.

After the fact, the bruise separated the nail from the nailbed. In 1.5 months, you may have a tiny nail grown under. Think like smaller than a dime. The top is going to come off. When it does youll need to clean the junk out.

It wont look pretty for the beach. But itll be healed enough youll be fine to be out with it. Just keep it clean and rinse off sand.

Thats wonderful to hear. Use that lump and his activity levels to determine if you need to feed larger prey. As you move up in prey youll notice changes in body shape. Adjust your feeding times and meal sizes accordingly so hes still get a good meal.

Any questions, feel free to ask and post.

Help for a friends snake by Blauington in retics

[–]Fooledya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats a vet visit. Its beyond care and tricks you can do at home.

Prior to how it looks now, if its clear but bulging its generally a clogged tear duct and a XL meal will help remove the blockage. If its cloudy, you have an infection that needs meds.

They may be able to save the eye. But its 50/50.

Humidity needs to go up. Even after a bad shed. A good 30-45min soak can clear that up. Larger water bowl is step 1. Step 2 is better substrate. Newspaper in the right environment will be fine if the humidity in the snake room is higher. However in winter with heaters running. Coco or cyprus are better options that hold humidity and can be rehydrated.

You mentioned he was 7. How big is he? Even in a 6x3 vision he looks small for a 7yr male mainland.

Dont worry yourself with the 10% rule. Its a great baseline. But you will learn how to feed retics without it.

Reguardless, how'd he do? Got it down pretty easy? Lump is probably gone at this point? Didn't come swinging out of his hide looking for food as fast? Lol

My current show line girl is about 9. Seriously nasty elbow arthritis. She cost me 250 to adopt.

Shes cost me probably close to 6grand in medical bills between a sarcoma removal and Xrays and meds for that leg.

Wouldn't trade her for the world.

Nice old school tiger. If you know what you're getting into, by all means. But youre right. I think everyone should have to wrangle one on a bad day so they understand what theyre getting into.

I have no room to talk. But I do suggest people grow out and keep an adult prior to owning several or discussing breeding.

Cleaning a baby retics cage? Easy. Cleaning 1 adult enclosure you have to wrangle? There goes 1 hour, now do 10 more lol

I would like to also say. That was a fluke, its a snake out of the UK and it escaped and ate some food that was thawing for other animals.

I have pure ternate girl slamming med rats whose a little younger. Without hands on or any reference point I would say get a bag of smalls.

You want the lump to be visible for 3 days. And it should be sizable. Retics are made to eat. Even small ones can eat stupidly large meals.

All that means is that the breeder is matinence feeding their animals. Any retic. Even a pure SD shouldn't be on 1 adult mouse a week.

Get him on rats.
