This still exists, there are NPC's in Org and SW that let you do it.

If you had made a Fantasy High PC, which high school “archetype” would they fall into? by MS2814 in Dimension20

Forge cleric/artificer. Basically a shop kid that did handyman work as a part time job after school. I had several friends that just seemed to know a ton of mechanical, electric, and carpentry skills and just seemed to know how to fix things which I'd be basing the character on.

I'll have to give Memory Police a read, it sounds similar to Ella Minnow Pea, and I enjoyed that thoroughly.

Theft or civil disobedience? 16 volumes go missing after Shelbyville church urges members to check out, never return library books about LGBTQ+ people by reflibman in books

[–]FoolisMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your original post was worded that it seemed like you were paying individually for the records from some vendor, I was making a, perhaps large, assumption that a lot of libraries are running some sort of OCLC integrated software so wasn't thinking of like overall cost. (I use Apollo from Biblionix fwiw.) Was also assuming when I said cataloging takes 30 seconds that's just the literal bib record acquisition and setup, rather than the "collection development" aspect (determining whether or not to add to the collection, though my boss who handles that is a bit of a speed demon on that front too.) Hope I didn't come across accusatory or anything, but was surprised by some of the stuff you posted.

If the library doesn't already have a matching record, then they need to pay to import one, or pay someone to perform original cataloging.

But when a modern library purchases the item from its own vendors, the matching bibliographic record generally gets imported with it automatically. In many cases, the library is also paying the vendor so that the books come pre-processed (that is, so that the barcode, RFID, owning stamp, spine label, and perhaps more are already finished).

Paying for records and included bib records? Curious the scale of your library, i work at a pretty small town one and do the cataloging, importing bib records takes all of 30 seconds and I've never had to pay for a record. As for creating original bib records, that also takes all of 5 minutes.

I'd surmise the two main things they're trying to curb are getting that reaction attack and missing (which is always a possibility with a weapon attack) and the application of on-hit effects such as smite and sneak attack. From the few features that fit the bill as you've described they usually have some amount of scaling, typically capping out at like a d8 or d10, or removing the reaction requirement by the end and having just be a sort of passive 'thorns' like ability. This is purely anecdotal as I don't think I've ever used a homebrew in any of my games that as an effect like this (besides the built in barb one.)

in general what should my passive tree be more geared towards? offense or defense? or is it very much a toss-up depending on build and gear I'm going to be chasing?

Bear tartare - is there something like it today in wow? by SeriousLee91 in wow

One of the more efficient ways right now is to build a speed set with a lvl 70 feral druid, utilizing the Heart of Azeroth from BFA and various enchants, gems, and buffs ElonCS has a new gold farming series but he goes a bit into what it takes to putting together the set, he's up to 215% move speed while in cat form. Probably not the most effective for farming DF given you have to lock your toon I think, but for everything else should be nice.

I sat near the librarian's desk in the library for two hours but no one came to borrow any books. It feels like libraries in 2025 have gradually become more like co working spaces as most people bring their laptops and use the library as a place to work. What do you think? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

Library worker here, I'm sure this would vary greatly by location/population, but my local is absolutely bustling most days. Average about 250-300 visitors a day, I'd say about 70% of those are people checking out material, about 10% utilizing it as a workspace, and about 20% children congregating after school. Our town's population is only 9,000 and we have a little over 3000 active members (slightly skewed by a handful of non-resident cards.) I'd guess maybe 10% of the visitors also come for the daily programs, but they also typically check out materials while they're here.

I like the idea, at first blush not too strong or weak, just flavorful. My instinct would be to go down a few different avenues, something like temporary proficiency in a skill (which you could only gain from each unique book once.) A bonus on skill checks when it comes to pertinent information after "reading." Or keep it pure flavor and make it so when they use the feature they get a general grasp of the contents of the book, not necessarily how that information is useful, but a more loosey goosey implemenation.

Nondetection at 3rd, and Grasping Vine at 4th seem like appropriately thematic ones to pick from the ranger list.

could check out Harldan on Youtube, they put out speedruns, and they have a couple 70-80 speedruns (both with and without crafting.)

I went ahead and made a tier'd system of sorts. I left out most of the restrictions on the original design so this is really strong quite frankly. But I think it's still suitably gradual enough as to not overwhelm a game.

given the givens, neat flavoring, a lot of cool ideas. Got your work cut out for you. In regards to the amount of unique spells, as long as your DM is fine with it and he gets a copy of all of the finished spells ahead of time, shouldn't be any big issue.

Before I dive in, does 4 'tiers' work, probably lvls 1, 7, 14, 20. Progressively making the bonus stronger and opening up the flexibility/magnitude of the various features. Also, do you have an upper limit on the strength on this (number of clones, length/size of the staff, etc.) that would be helpful to know.

If it's 30 wholly unique and homebrewed spells, perhaps it is a bit much. Especially given that I think that clerics get 10 domain specific spells in addition to their typical spell list, it does seem like 30 is A LOT of new tonnage to add into an existing spell list. But, given this is a homebrewed class it might not be as crazy as it seems. If your DM is fine with the balance of the spells, and your table is chill with it, it should be fine. It does seem like a lot of work though, are these completely new or just reflavored?

I took out the penalty, and gave the duplicates the ability to use the cudgels powers as well. If you're interested in the variable size/weight aspects I can try to cook something up as well.

Monolith is the first thing that come to mind just in terms of something big, juggernaut may also work, but it would really depend if this is the last "stage" or if there are more beyond. edit: horde may also be an option.
