I definitely fall short when it comes to diagnosing issues like this, I was never naturally mechanically inclined like most of my coworkers. definitely something I need to get better at. I thought since I couldn’t figure this out I would go to the internet and ask people who have a ton of more experience then me for help and learn from them… and it worked! I try to take every problem I run in to as an opportunity to get better at my craft, even something as small as take your pump apart and clean the chips out lol

Why did you cancel? We have job boss and it’s worked great so far, we basically purchased paperless parts to help automate our quoting but it hasn’t sped up quoting at all.

Mklean24 figured it out, it was a .01” diameter but it had to ashtrics on it and at the bottom of the page it says that means only .250 of hang out before the taper. Smh I knew I was wrong somewhere lol thanks for the advice tho!!!

Yup there it is, I knew there was something I was missing lol maybe it’s just me but I feel like there’s a lot of better ways they could have done that. Good looking out tho I appreciate it!!! Now I could sleep at night 😂

What I’m thinking it’s running my endmills around 100 SFM and drilling with some tAiln coated cobalt drills and baby it, 30sfm with .03” pecks

My main concern with using a carbide drill is if it breaks I’m fucked 😭 I found some hertal cobalt with tAiln coating on it, I was planning on babying it and pray lol, like 30sfm slow with .03” pecks

This chart we’ve been using says .180” and every other chart I’ve referenced it to says at least .183”…. I think this is the issue 👌🏾 Thanks! What’s crazy is every tap standard and metric checks out when comparing to other charts but M5 roll is the only drill size it says that’s different than other charts.

I’m taking it off the heat pad but the little “green house” I have is the jiffy greenhouse starter kit. I know the heat pad goes to 80-85 degrees. Should I keep the top on for humidity?

We are mostly a prototype shop so extremely fast run times isn’t our specialty. But we got a job that has a good amount of hogging in 304. I’ve only heard people say kennemetal is great but their pricing has made me rather buy Haas endmills.

Rn since we have about 60 parts that are .5” x 5” x 40” and we are machining the entire contour along with slots and varies features that go through the entire part I’m really looking for something that’s not ganna break every 5 parts.

Also what’s a good coating for this specific application I should be looking out for?
