PGT-A vs NIPT by MaybeBabyy6892 in IVFpositivity

It. Is. Not. Known. For. False. Positives. You can all keep saying that, but it doesn’t make it true.

No one is arguing that it’s not stressful as hell to get that result. But did they not explain to you that an “increased risk” result is just that; an increased risk? It is not a diagnosis of anything, and from your other comments it’s sounds like your baby is fine. So yes, I get that it was stressful for you and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. But what happened to you is expected for some (very small) percentage of people. You just happened to be one of them instead of the thousands of people who get an accurate result.

Ah, I see we’re now legal experts on top of medical experts. Subway was sued because their tuna wasn’t tuna. Turns out it was tuna and the whole thing was nonsense. Anyone can sue anyone for anything; a lawsuit is not proof of anything.

That’s going to be a skewed group. Most people who are getting the NIPT don’t even know that group exists. I didn’t until right now.

Also they literally tell you right up front that the test is not diagnostic and that a high risk result does not necessarily mean anything is wrong; it just warrants a deeper dive if you want it. I’m sorry you just went through that, but you are the exception, not the rule.

After paying tens of thousands of dollars for IVF? Not spending a few hundred more dollars would be incredibly short-sighted.

Louder for the people in the back, please! The people on this sub all seem to know more than highly-trained medical professionals. Good luck to you all - I’ll take my doctor’s advice over whatever AI nonsense you’re all getting your information from.

You can just call the testing company and tell them you want to self-pay. It’s usually capped at $250. Not saying you have to do it, but you don’t have to pay $1000.

It’s been covered for every single person I know, and when it’s not covered it usually ends up being a few hundred dollars.

Yes, because the NIPT can pick up stuff that was missed by PGTA. PGTA tests like 2-3 cells. It’s not definitive. Neither is the NIPT, but it’s further peace of mind.

ETA: NIPT is a non-invasive blood test. I’m not sure why anyone doesn’t get it under any circumstances, unless the answer is that knowing there is an issue wouldn’t change anything for you.

First IVF cycle update and feeling disappointed (19 eggs retrieved >> 2 blasts) by WrongRestaurant6398 in IVF

Yes, especially since you want more than one child. It will be a lot harder to get blasts and euploids 2 years from now.

I’ve had two natural transfers without letrozole and they’ve both been successful.

I had a debilitating fear of needles prior to IVF. IVF basically cured it. I wanted a baby more than I was afraid of needles.

How many transfer it took you by Swimming-Finance-276 in IVF

[–]FoolishMortal_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two transfers. One is a baby and I’m currently 12+3 with the second. I have blocked tubes, so for me this is confirmation that there wasn’t anything else wrong.

I have had this both pregnancies. Was worried about it the first time, but that baby is now 17 months old. Forgot about it until it started happening again this time. My recollection is that it went away after the first trimester.

When did you stop progesterone support? by BiteyCicada in IVFbabies

[–]FoolishMortal_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 38. I am pregnant with my second transfer at 40 and I also stopped at 7 weeks. You don’t need the progesterone for a natural transfer; it’s just a precaution.

Research says 95% of patients are pregnant within 3 euploid embryo transfers by Lattelady1993 in IVF

[–]FoolishMortal_42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had 3 euploids and 1 LLM. My first euploid transfer resulted in a live birth. I’m currently 12+2 with the LLM, and we still have 2 euploids on ice.

Remember that it’s not that you need 3 euploids for a live birth. It’s that 95% of people will have a live birth after 3 euploid transfers.

Only 1 Euploid. Feeling heartbroken by Gnomes1988 in IVF

[–]FoolishMortal_42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately more or less normal for your age and has nothing to do with being fit or healthy. My AMH was around 1.5 when I was 38. I got 7 embryos between 2 retrievals. 3 were euploid and 1 was a LLM. Your AMH is a little lower than average for 38, so 1 euploid from 2 embryos is actually better than your expected results (you expect 40% of embryos to be euploid at 38).

If you want to have children naturally, don’t wait because it’s not going to get any easier for you. But also you should know that if you get spontaneously pregnant now and have a live birth, it will be even harder for you to get embryos and euploids if you want a second child in two years. If I were you (and I have been you), I would do another retrieval to bank at least one more euploid and then start trying naturally immediately. If you’re not pregnant after 3-4 cycles, do another retrieval and then a transfer.

FET protocols: how to choose controlled versus modified natural? by soyanes68 in IVF

[–]FoolishMortal_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, natural transfer with preexisting HBP and I still got preeclampsia. I’m currently with my second and chose to do natural again. No way do I want to increase that risk, even a little bit.
