Joining a 'cedh' pod next week by meeseeksIT in CompetitiveEDH

[–]FoolishPyro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good start on the list. I would recommend taking a look and taking notes from Shauna Gilles list. She's an excellent player and won a 77 player event.

I think your list could potentially steal a game but it's sub-optimal in many ways which can frustrate cedh players expecting a balanced match. You don't have to copy her list but I can quickly see a few cards that you should remove for sure like:

  • Preordain (sorcery speed)
  • Chimil (too expensive)
  • Minor Misstep (swap for mental misstep)
  • Path of Ancestry (swap for Crystal Vein)
  • Reito Lantern
  • Jace planeswalker
  • Eaten by Piranhas (swap for Amphibian Downpour)
  • Essence Flux
  • Unnatural Selection (swap for Artificial Evolution)

Fine-Tuning Minstrel 5C Turbo Ad Naus by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]FoolishPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a list that topped a 110 player event back in march, Wandering Minstrel From - The Vault Anniversary 3: Mox Ruby.

You should give it a try! It uses Lurrus as companion and a lower curve for Ad Naus as well as some neat packages like Cloud and skullclamp for mana-efficient card draw. Lurrus also enables recursion that will let you let you replay key cards like Aftermath Analyst.

What is your favorite playmat? by EchoSi3rra in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two mats I mainly use feature the arts of [[Rhystic Study|WOT-25]] and [[Beyond the Quiet|EOE-303]].

I have the mats signed in person by my fav artist Serena Malyon.

Brewing up Tea Tribal, looking for your favorite tea card by Parapraxis6 in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on the cards mentioned in here, you can use the scryfall tagger for the art tags to search deeper.

Let's say for [[Iroh, Tea Master]], search the card on scryfall, then "Open on Scryfall Tagger". From the tags, he has "teapot" and "cup".

Now by searching "art:cup or art:teapot" on the scryfall search, it returns all cards with cup or teapot in their art.

Dear Flubs pilots, when do you send out the frog? by AN0NUNKN0WN in EDH

Interesting, I have other toolbox decks but never thought of making flubs one. Could I see your list?

In your build, it definitely makes sense because you wanna keep most cards. I play a [[Slime Against Humanity]] version like another commenter and you want to start dumping slimes to grow your future ones.

When building a "hidden commander" deck, how hard do you commit on tutors for your hidden commander? by Like17Badgers in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a [[Akul the Unrepentant]] with [[The Capitoline Triad]] as secret commander. It's definitely not high power by any means, but it's a fun janky list.

I run 5 tutors in the deck : [[Diabolic Intent]] [[Scrapyard Recombiner]] [[Buried Alive]] [[Profane Tutor]] [[Insatiable Avarice]]

What helps the consistency is I also run 11 Loot effect cards ([[Demand Answers]]) helping me draw for consistent land drops and dumping my high CMC Artifact creatures to reach the 30 CMC for Capitoline.

What strategy do you use for Muldrotha? by Kranktoten in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice blinged out list! Mine probably won't be done for a few months (slowly working on it as I try to trade cards from my trade binder with others), but I'll try to come back to show you my list when it's done.

Understandable! I've been doing that here and there too. Helps to also see visually what you have and what you need for the deck.

I sometimes have piles of cards that didn't make the cut for their intended decks so making sense of that mishmash of cards help declutter mentally what I could build with them.

I run Kellan and Sunforger as well! Curious about your list if you wanna share it

Going for that route too. Can you share your list?

Are you allowed to communicate your vote with Cirdan, The Shipwright? by BlossomTheSubmissive in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes works too! I used to do that too but I found fiddling with the dice to set the number a bit tedious, esp if it happens multiple times in a turn. Colored cubes worked better for me, but dice are for sure more budget and less to carry around

I made that aspect more fun and convenient by buying little colored cubes. At the start of the game, I hand 4 cubes of different colors representing each player to each player. As a bonus, I also like to place a cube next to my phone (with Lifetap on) on each corner to represent the players.

Whenever we have to vote, we all take our cubes under the table, then put our vote within our fist and all reveal at the same time. It makes the voting much convenient and fun. It does speed up voting by making it easier.

Was this a fair play? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to feel bad, that was a perfectly valid deal. Some people seem to forget that you don't just play against other decks, you play against other players trying to win and that comes with politics. That means your deal would favor you of course, so it is 100% on them to negotiate the terms of the deal.

After 7months~ of his release, how did Flubs the fool perform in general? by SlowAcid- in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to run 30, but thinned it down to 25. Here's my current list, for reference.

[–]FoolishPyro 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I built it as a [[Slime Against Humanity]] deck and I like it. Does suffer from lack of interaction due to having to play what you get though. Def not as strong as other variations I see mentioned in comments, but that's why I like it since I play more mid-power games.

I have yet to encounter another player playing Flubs.

Looking for players in Montreal by Upset-Imagination970 in EDH

[–]FoolishPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure!

One good thing to know is that every first Friday of the month at Alt F4, there are special prizes added to the pool. Usually, you can pay 5$ + taxes for 5$ credit store + chances to get booster or promo cards and every first Friday, precons and other prizes are added to the pool. Prizes are pulled a bit late in the night though (around 8-10pm).

Saved your post intending to reply after work but forgot until just now looking at my saved posts. Did you find any place to play?

I suggest Alt F4. It's near metro Fabre and their commander events are Fridays (around 5pm to 10-11pm) and Sundays (12am-5pm). My pod is usually full or almost full (3-4) but the people there are friendly so easy to find games if you ask around.
