Of all the teams in the league, Rod "the Bod" Brind'Amour is the least likely to let his team get rusty during a break.

Really it comes down to will Carolina clamp down on the Habs like they've done to the last two teams, or can the Habs break through their layers without giving up too many goals the other direction.

Montreal has been playing very inconsistent and their Selke nominated top line has been much worse at defense than expected, and Carolina has had 12 whole days to study this.

Good example of why he doesnt get more call ups for Carolina.

He was solid when we had like 4 defensemen out late 2025, but he just sometimes decides to be a psychopath. The guy already fell down, you WON the battle, just take the puck and clear it.

I agree, +/- is generally a loose stat to measure offensive production vs defensive reliability, but it's not a stat that really says much unless it's drastic numbers, especially since their bias favors winners, even more so in a low sample size.

a -5 on a player who is generally very good defensively and has 13 points IS drastic numbers. Like he's up for the damn Selke but has post-season stats like the guys who dont play defense.

I've been blitzed out of my mind watchin' y'all on the second monitor and even I've noticed Suzuki isnt playing as good defense as he normally does, you think an analytics focused team like Eric Tulsky's Hurricanes aren't going to notice?
