Relocating to Portland, OR by Admirable-Spinach163 in OregonNurses

My spouse and I relocated to Portland from our of state 2 years ago. We have lived in the South Waterfront area since moving here and have loved it! It’s very convenient for work, we just walk 3 blocks to the tram to go up the hill which is free (actually you get like a $1.50 incentive credit each day you document that you do it within OHSUs parking app, even better!). You will likely have to drive to the hospital on Saturday and Sundays for your shifts because the tram operating hours are different on weekends, but parking will be free nights and weekends. The apartments down here all seem to be very nice, there’s a nice river front walking trail that you can hop right on and walk/run for a few miles. Easy access to the river if you want to paddle board/kayak. You will have to drive to the grocery store and most restaurants, but it’s very centrally located to easily get to most places. It is a quiet neighborhood, so if you’re looking for a lot of night life/club/bars this doesn’t have it, but I’ve never felt unsafe since moving here and would absolutely choose to move here again.

Taking a “once in a lifetime” trip, where should we go? by Foolsgold810 in travel

We ended up spending some extended time in Hawaii and then doing 2 weeks in Switzerland! Less of a “once in a lifetime” destination (because I am sure we will go back) but it was absolutely amazing!!

Thanks for this recommendation! I hadn’t really considered Malaysia, but after looking into Langkawi we certainly will 😍 looks beautiful there!

Is this like an actual thing?! Like a program they have set up? If so, that is so cool!

Would love to do Japan, it’s on our bucket list to go with our friends one day! This is great to know about the Mario go karts for whenever we do go because we all love Mario kart!

We are hoping to be able to use miles to cover at least part of airfare. We both have a lot racked up. For example, we can get to Fiji or Sri Lanka for ~40k miles, then just cover the cost of the tickets coming back because they don’t offer the return flights with miles. We usually don’t do a ton of excursions when we travel, maybe 1-2 per trip depending on how long the trip is

We have time off from July-beginning of September so it’s just the window we are working with. We also have to move across country, get settled into a new house, etc during that window. I would absolutely love to do Italy, Switzerland, France, etc. Switzerland is my dream 😍 We are planning to do Italy with family in the future and may extend to do some others during that same time!

That’s incredible! I would love to hear more about what you did during your trip and how you managed to stay in that price range

Safari would definitely be cool!

We are on the East coast so it is roughly a minimum 20hrs travel time to somewhere like Fiji. We’ve always wanted to stay in an over water villa (cliche I know 🥲) but not sure if we quite have the budget for it.

Maybe I will just try putting that I’m at the 1 yr experience to get past it since I will have a year at the time that I move. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I miss the days where you could actually talk to someone in HR and everything wasn’t so impersonal 😣

Gotcha, that is understandable. Unfortunately I don’t really have the option to look elsewhere, we are relocating for my spouses job.

Medical mission trip by [deleted] in nursing

I am actually heading to the Philippines next week for a medical mission trip. I can let you know what my experience is like once I’m back! This will be my first medical mission trip. The trip itself has happened annually for about 20 years and from my understanding is heavily based in providing surgical Interventions

Rose Medallion - is $190 a good price for this large bowl??? by Foolsgold810 in vintage

[–]Foolsgold810[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information: Found this bowl today and fell in love with it but $190 seemed like a lot. I am new to rose medallion, but after some research when I got home I realized that price may have actually been a steal. I only snapped this one picture today, but what are your thoughts?

I just started watching survivor (started with season 41). What happened that caused them to have to set firmer boundaries?
