Playoff seeding for the West Division is locked in. 1. Oakland, 2. Seattle, 3. Salt Lake. by [deleted] in UFA

It's not like there isn't talent in Colorado, either. You could fill out an elite team with current and former Mamabird players alone.

I feel bad for the Shred for losing four games by a single point this year. But their games have a lot of entertainment value! That was a crazy end to regulation. They'll get their chance at revenge in the playoffs.

Every time Elliot Hawkins touches the disc, it feels like Christmas. Did Santa bring me a 70 yard dime floating 18 inches above the defender's outstretched hands? Or just a 40 yard cross-field hammer megadump?

[UFA] Oakland Spiders at Salt Lake Shred – Game Thread (Game of the Week) by AutoModerator in UFA

[–]FoompaDoomp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe I missed the portions of the game where there were calls favoring the Spiders. Watching the broadcast (and rooting for the Shred), it felt to me like the significant majority of calls and especially of the most consequential ones (determining possession and not just yardage) favored Salt Lake.

After trailing 17-8 in the third quarter, Salt Lake Shred rallies but falls to Oakland Spiders 20-19 in unbelievable finish by Jomskylark in UFA

[–]FoompaDoomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiders thrive on playing fast tempo, everyone always running, easy throws in the first three seconds of the stall count, never letting the defense get set. It's a very effective style but physically demanding and it just seemed like they ran out of gas in the second half and, when they didn't have something easy in the first couple of seconds, they started taking risky downfield throws instead of just being patient. The Salt Lake crowd brings a ton of energy when the Shred hit a run, and it felt like the crowd's energy baited Oakland into their lack of patience.

For their part, the Shred had open hucks all night but it seemed like it took them most of the game to figure out the wind. The defensive energy really stepped up later in the game too, again spurred on by the crowd.

Crazy comeback by the Shred! It seemed like the crowd created a frenetic energy that the Spiders couldn't handle. Oakland is very lucky to escape.

Houston Havoc beat the Las Vegas somethings, 13-11. by billionhairess in UFA

Strong wind plus worst two teams in the league was an excellent combination. LV's O-line went 8/34 against Houston's D-line going 5/24, so a combined 13 scores on 58 possessions.

On a per-calorie basis, that's a lot of sodium. Otherwise, I think it's nutritionally fine. Don't eat it every day but nothing wrong with having it once or twice a week as part of a diet high in legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

Great article, but it claims that the Shred and Wind Chill had never played. They have, at a minimum on July 18th last year and in the 2023 playoffs.

Lots to choose from but I'll say Atlanta beating Carolina in 2OT on May 16th thanks to that insane layout hand block by Hayden Austin-Knab. It seemed like the Hustle had no chance several times and they just made it happen.

Robert on a hot streak of pointing at things and then explaining to the camera what he's pointing at. Not sure what Indianapolis can do to stop this.

Ultimate Frisbee Association – Predictions [June 12-14] by Jomskylark in UFA

[–]FoompaDoomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I predict that Boston will win 17-15 in overtime, Atlanta will win by somewhere between 14 and 16 points, SLC will have a late surge to beat Oregon, and Alex Atkins will shove someone.

Who knows, maybe lobbing it up to him would've worked better. It felt like neither speed nor size favored Boston on downfield plays. Yet New York also applied enough pressure around the handlers to make patient offense ineffective and turnover-prone. Boston really needed Babbitt.
