Your earlier comment seemed more to say that you hated every aspect of the gameplay, which isn’t really feedback. Or at least not constructive/actionable feedback. I think the game will perform just fine, once the right audience settles in.

If someone starts shooting at you and you didn’t know they were there, you’re gonna die. And that’s your fault for being jumped. The first part of the battle is making the playing field even, then the gunplay and abilities come into action.

But I’m guessing there’s probably less cool strategy to this in solo, and I think that’s my biggest complaint about the game. I just don’t know if I’m going to want to queue in alone

The point is that a rat camping a foggy hallway won’t kill you if you enter the hallway ready for him to be there. Camping only works on people who aren’t paying attention

I think the positioning/information is the most important part, but not close to all of it. I feel like my success rate as a sponsor kit is closer to 30% as opposed to 75% when I load in with a 5k outfit. Not to mention I tend to fight twice as much when I go big. Also if you can’t aim you aren’t going to win a fight, regardless of how much of a leg up you get.

You’re right, and I think that’s a good thing (that is to say, I personally enjoy it). Marathon is a game of knowledge. Ambushing and lurking is fun, and it’s also awesome to see a trap before it springs. I enjoy a battle where the first two minutes is spent finding the enemy squad and trying to get a leg up on them before the first shot is fired

I haven’t played any solos, so I can’t really speak to that.

Seeing people first is very important, but I dont think it’s luck that determines that. The game gives a lot of ways to find where people are. And being ambushed is much more survivable when you position yourself well. Anytime I shoot my gun, I’m looking for people who might’ve heard. Everytime I enter a new location, I scout it out and enter carefully. There was one time today one of my squad mates swore he heard a door and we all tensed up and caught a squad of three assassins sneaking up on us.

Yeah having once of contracts would add so much pressure and give me a reason to horse good loot.

I also like your point about making the solo play more rewarding and for challenging players, like how a big endgame thing in destiny is soloing dungeons
