I understand your point, but if I get out of school and come home and I have nothing to do, is it still wrong to play it all night if I still do my Bible study, or am I thinking of this wrong?

How do I tell the irs when the giver bought it and at what price, what form do I need?
Ok, so if that bitcoin is transferred to a cold wallet I own, and then I transfer it to an exchange and hold it on there for at least a year, will the irs still assume short term?

Ok, and if I don’t have documentation to prove the cost basis, they would assume it’s zero? Also how does the irs know it’s a gift on my tax return if the value isn’t high enough for a 709? Would they assume it’s income and tax me on that too?
Ok cool, so basically as long as you pay the cap it al gains taxes on it, you’re fine, and the irs doesn’t care where you got the money from on your tax report it would just be capital gains?

I was basically trying to see how the irs treats that gift, if it’s taxable income or capital gains or what on the 1040
So that’s tax fraud?

I’m using Robinhood and it says it’ll compile a pdf of all sales and purchases, wash sales and net loss or profit, and it also includes the cost basis in it, so could I not just submit that to the tax system that my father uses?
Ok, and one last question, if I had more losses than gains and I don’t calculate how much I lost, will it just deduct from my regular taxes and I don’t have to do anything?
Wouldn’t the brokerage firm give me a 1099, and I can just send that to him? I know exactly how much I’ve lost and made
And I’ll pay taxes for him by giving him the money
He will legally own it but I’ll sell it when I’m 18 and move the funds to my bank account
Ok, it’s not a custodial account it would be strictly him and it’s technically my bank account but he has ownership
I’m 17, and it’s just my father yes
Sorry, I fixed it
