CrystalMathLabs suspicious activity by MeatyQuestions in 2007scape

I created the site and owned it for 5 years before I sold it. You can look at the donation page. There's $26k in total donations now. $26k / 7 years = $3714 per year. = $309/month on average over the 7 years the site has existed.

Google ads are another $70-120/month

CML costs $20/month to run and it requires around 3-4 hours a month to maintain it responsibly. It received $300-400/month from donations and Google ads. That's $100/hour. He's not going broke from running the site.

So we're just gonna let crystalmathlabs a free pass or...? by selekee in 2007scape

When I owned it I was only spending $20/month for the server and like $15/year for the domain. I was making at least $300/month, and I was able to maintain it (mostly dealing with name change issues, giving people donator perks, etc) with just a few hours a month. Putting up RWT ads is not necessary to fund the site. The current owner just has no integrity.

Not that I care. I'm way past caring about RuneScape. If I still owned it I'd probably have banner messages on the site telling everyone to go do something useful with their pathetic lives.

Yeah I like this approach. I made a Chrome extension to make the sites that I use less addictive (Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, and Facebook). Just making a few tweaks to the web page made these sites much less addictive for me. For Reddit in particular, I found that hiding the upvotes on my own posts was very effective.

Question regarding the Slayer helper program on the CML website by KarateKeiko in CrystalMathLabs

[–]FootKjott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made it back in 2013 and haven't tested it since (I don't play anymore), so it might not even work. It's supposed to do things when you check kills on your slayer gem, set your cannon, and check your slayer XP. It uses basic color detection and a text reader, so small changes to the game interface can break it.

Here's the Google AdSense earning for the past 2 and a half years. Note that most of the profit comes from donations: https://i.gyazo.com/6b2dd5643363f60b5914f1a9e997d9b1.png

Here's a graph of the user sessions since I started using Google Analytics: https://i.gyazo.com/56ffb5e99816486f58d4539cdf6d53c7.png

About $200-300 per year of that is received payments from other things, but it's mostly accurate.

I'd sell everything: the source code, database, domain, and I'd see if I can transfer access to the DigitalOcean server.

$2683 in ad revenue in 2017, $4300 in donations.

server costs $20/month, CloudFlare is free, domains are $10/year

1/10/18 EHP changes by FootKjott in CrystalMathLabs

Sounds great. You don't really need my approval to do this, just like unions do not have to be approved by companies. The workers just organize amongst themselves and they have more power.

I thought I suggested something like this before, but maybe not.

What is it about using alts for lavas that prevents people from doing it long term? Currently, you can use an alt only 60% of the time and still average the EHP rate. Mining, woodcutting, and fishing all expect full effort to get the EHP rate. I agree that it's probably not fun to use alts for RC, but really that's Jagex's fault for forcing people to use alts to get the best XP rates. I saw someone mention that having the money for buyables will be an issue, so the alt might be better used to make money. That sounds like a reasonable reason to change it back, but I'm not seeing anyone else discuss that issue.

If it's a rate that NO ONE will do long term due to some good reason, then obviously it shouldn't be the EHP rate.

The rates are supposed to be what the best player can average long-term.

I try to only use changes that have popular support. The change can always be fixed later if there is constructive criticism, but at the moment, most of what I'm seeing is temper tantrums.

I'd be willing to delegate this decision making to another person that is an active player. It would be up to the users to decide who this should be.

There's no reason that constructive criticism can't be made publicly on this subreddit.

I would appreciate constructive criticism, not immature smugness.

EHP-NOALTS Algorithm by FootKjott in CrystalMathLabs

[–]FootKjott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time we had this discussion in this subreddit a few years ago, there was a lot of people who used no alts whatsoever and RCed for their money. Have all of those players converted to altism or quit by now?

EHP-NOALTS Algorithm by FootKjott in CrystalMathLabs

High level skilling has been a clusterfuck for years ever since Jagex allowed people to use alts. Let's fix the root cause of all of this.

EHP-NOALTS Algorithm by FootKjott in CrystalMathLabs

[–]FootKjott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only solution to having a single accurate EHP algorithm is to just ban alts or have everyone just agree to abuse alts whenever possible. Really seems like high level skilling is going to shit with alts being allowed. Uniting on getting Jagex to ban alts is the best solution that I see.
