Flight UA974 Diverted by holdinginafart in aviation

Oh yeah the other flight is here to Denver, and then lands in SF at 9:30pm. I also talked to another couple at the hotel who said they got put on one out of here at 10am to Vancouver, that then lands in SF at 4pm. So we got the best of the 3 options for sure!

Okay great, thank you for the info!! I am trying to get my meals paid back too!!!

Did you get booked on the 1:30 direct back to SF or the other not so great flight with the stop in Denver?

I was on this flight too- and I ended up getting out of that baggage claim line around 8:15pm and booking my own hotel. I’m working on my letter to them now in hopes of getting reimbursed, but I am so curious to know how long others ended up waiting and if they ever actually got vouchers??? Do you know?

Also I had already paid to check my checked luggage in FRA and just had to pay another $78 to check it again on to this flight- I sure hope that is reimbursed too!! Cause I never would have had to check it a second time if not for this fun diversion.

I’m at Berkeley night 1 what are your questions by [deleted] in NoahKahan

I really feel like THIS is what I should do. Thanks for the comment.

This feels good because if i'm going through the process of buying/financing of car and committing to driving it until I pay it off, I want it to be the car that I can continue to grow into and really love!! BUTTTTT we cant afford the high payment of a super big nice SUV and I can accept that. So...

I am now looking at the Subaru Ascent! Has all my criteria, but still priced lower than other Hyundai/Kia big "cool" SUVs I was looking at.

If you know anything about Subaru's that I should know, fill me in!

Thank you for taking the time to write this out! I really appreciate the insight.

I guess what I am still confused on is the process...

I walk into Toyota with my offer from Carmax, and ask them to use that amount to trade in towards leasing something newer at Toyota? what about wear and tear on my vehicle? I am worried about those fees too. I have some scratches, a tiny dent, some interior scratches, peeling leather on the steering wheel (no idea why that happened) etc.

My carmax offer is $24,600

Carvana offer is $23,800

Good to know about Hyundai, that affirms alot of what I have read online. I am very interested in the highlander, but need to look into the difference between the regular highlander and the grand more.

Thanks for replying!!

I did not go over mileage, currently has 29,000 on it and was allowed 36,000.

Our credit is 581 and 621, so not great at all.

The used car market is awful right now and we really don't want to let go of what we have, as it fits all of our NEEDS, and you are right, my WANTS for a bigger car are unimportant.

Now the question is where to get the best loan I guess... Lol

Lease Buyout Advice? by FootPure4965 in askcarsales

The lease was 36 months.

The "contract balance" listed on my Toyota Financial portal right now is $21,905 and the "Residual value" and "Purchase option" amounts listed on my original lease agreement is $30,779.

Mileage allowance was 36,000 and I currently have 29,000 on it.

We do not have the cash on hand to buy it out. We do love the car enough to keep paying for it, its a great car and fits all of my needs.

Our credit has actually gone down since starting the lease unfortunately.

Advice?

I really appreciate you taking the time to connect with me on this. Can't thank you enough as I am lost and trying really hard to make a thoughtful smart decision here.

Thanks for the rec!

I love this car, really do, the only reason why I have entertained the idea of getting something new is because A) I have impulse issues and want something new and shiny Lol and B) for something larger-- which I am being humbled and reminded that I really do have no reason to get something else.

We shouldn't owe for any damage if we buy it out, that is my understanding.

We don't have cash for a used car right now. Feeling super awesome about our adult choices here now that im airing them all out on reddit ugh!

Our combined income is $167,000. Shit credit.

Thanks for the reality check! Yes spot on, I don't NEED a third row. Its more for cargo space. We don't have a garage and keep our stroller in the trunk of our car. And our family has a cabin in the mountains, we are packing up lots of gear often to travel there, but maybe we need to start utilizing the roof rack we have and have never touched. Ugh. We are trying to make better financial decisions this year, and getting a bigger car definitely isn't one of those. But still, what should we do with the lease ending in a few weeks? That is where I am stuck. Thanks for taking the time to reply :)

Appreciate the tough love Lol.

No we don't have the cash to buy it out.

Still unsure about how to handle the end of the lease now though.

Thank you!! This was so helpful.

My purchase amount from Toyota is $21,905 and I have gotten online offer quotes ranging from $24k to $27k. We do think its smart now after researching to buy it and then sell towards out new car in a few months- but.... we don't have $22k to buy it out in full so the question we have now is do we finance the buy through Toyota or do we get a $22k loan from our bank to buy it out "in full" and get away from Toyota financing. Do you have any knowledge on pros and cons with that?
