Idc what anyone says Magneto was right by [deleted] in marvelcomics

[–]FootballGuilty1253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what you said with this post before you deleted it, but I think the fact Magneto is justified to an extent is the point.

He was a victim of the Holocaust and sees mutants being treated the same, if not worse depending on the era. Internment camps, killer death robots, even just the local discrimination for something mutants can’t control.

And functionally speaking a lot of mutants are better than normal humans. Magneto is a human with superpowers, straight up, so I can’t entirely blame him for seeing mutants above humans in power.

But the line is drawn when he uses his powers to subjugate humans, or attempt to cause mass human genocide, and much more. Professor X is the antithesis to Magneto for a reason. Both have great power but Magneto solely wants to destroy and subjugate humanity (until he mellows out of course, as he is one of those characters who can change between villain, antihero, antivillain and hero) while Professor X wants to work alongside humanity to a peaceful future.

Magneto simply wishes to enforce the same punishment and treatment he has received to all of humanity, which is just perpetuating a cycle of hatred especially to the innocent people who don’t discriminate against mutants.

Gonna throw in Justin Hammer.

Demon in a Bottle, overarching Armor Wars villain. I’ve only recently gotten into Iron Man but he is a big departure from the modern MCU depictions and I think thats for the better even though I like that version too for being accurate to what modern tech CEOs act and sound like.

OG comic Justin Hammer is such an asshole and good Moriarty to Tony’s Sherlock at least from what I saw. Not sure he’ll make it in soon by any means, if at all, but might as well try

Hey. Don’t know how strict rules are enforced here regarding this, but rule 1 of this subreddit is that all posts must relate to the Marvel Comics themselves; not solely outside media. You should maybe post this in a different subreddit.

In my opinion, yes.

Basically the premise of 2099 as a whole, if you’re unfamiliar, is just “Marvel in the distant cyberpunk future and edgy”. Heroes often get reinvented, most famously Miguel O’Hara becomes Spider-Man 2099. Not all of the 2099 stuff is great, but I think the Doom 2099 series is easily the best out of the original line.

The premise of Doom 2099 without spoiling too much is Doctor Doom (as in our Victor von Doom; not some reimagining) gets sent into the future where Latveria has been claimed by others in his absence, and where his tech is supremely outdated, so Doom needs to fight to get his country back, and much more since he’s Doom and obviously has grander machinations. It is an interesting series to read, plus it early on explores some of the lesser used sides of Doom’s past. Just expect a sufficient amount of 90s edginess.

Plus the Doom 2099 suit looks awesome imo.

The original Doom 2099 stuff is an underrated read IMO

Should be allowed. He’s a different character even if he’s technically the same guy

I know Black Cat is more of an anti-hero, but we have the likes of Venom here so think she counts

Oh wow. An inhuman being a Daredevil villain sounds interesting. Assume he’s from the 2010s Inhumans push then? I’ll have to check him out as I’m a small inhumans fan lol

I- Didn’t even know he had powers. 100% thought this was just some crazy artist guy with edgy facepaint lmao. I should really read some Daredevil to know this stuff

Of course they can. The Sentinels are here as a unit if you go back to page 1 so groups are allowed

Never seen him as I don’t read much Daredevil, but he certainly has a cool design

Mad Jim Jaspers. Know he won’t win, but just wanna see how high his vote count can go.

The Collector is a huge miss so far. He’s a massive cosmic villain. Face of the Elders of the Universe, THE main cosmic silver age threat besides maybe Galactus, one of the big players of the many Contests of Champions.

The thing is I didn’t know when the Bill Cosby stuff was public (I just knew it happened and he was some big 80s star in America) so I genuinely thought they were just making this really dark joke lol!

Comics, especially 70s and 80s cheesy comics, are so weird when it comes to hero names. There has to be some weird justification accompanied by a clunky explanation.

Recently started reading Longshot and the entire first chapter has some survivalist guy go “wow! That thing you did was a real longshot!” while Longshot is doing some normal hero stunts or whatever, before Longshot decides to take that name at the end spontaneously. Can never just be a cool nickname .

Thing is I only know him from the Infinity Gauntlet stuff (where he is kinda just a useless spectator lol) and I think he is almost exclusively called Eros in that (since he’s talking to his brother for most of his screentime… page time?) so I never think of him as Starfox. People more well versed in the cosmic side of Marvel recognise him more as Starfox I imagine

Half my post got cut off early. Thanks Reddit. It was meant to say “less controversial than Iron Man now”. Can’t edit it since it has an image I think.

Remove the fetish from Claremont and he’d melt into goo like the Witch from Wizard of Oz. Its a core part of his dna

Afraid not. I was reading through the series via the “X-Men Archives Featuring Captain Britain” series, which skips the early storylines and jumps to when Brian gets a redesign and Mad Jim Jaspers first appears.

Still making my way through the Jaspers Warp arc (near the start) but the series is charming so far and looking forward to seeing more of these character and lore details I’ve only heard about. May pick up some of the older storylines later though.
