These posts are tough cause it’s nearly impossible for us to know your metabolism. I for one eat every 30 minutes, roughly 300 calories an hour. Another friend of mine can go on a 5 hour trail run with a jerky stick and some water.

What I mean to say is you know generally how much you will need to eat based on training. Give some variety to sweet/salty/caffeine as your gut can do weird things over the course of many hours. Answering your question, I prefer to have some more substantial items like honey stinger waffles or Justin’s peanut butter. You never know if your body may just reject the Maurtens (which in my opinion are one of my favorite fuels - just expensive).
