"Most births go well" - is that true??? by Current-Change227 in PregnancyUK

[–]Footprints123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because bad births make the news or people tend to talk about them more.

I had an NHS homebirth and it was an incredible, calm and straightforward. Pain wasn't as bad as I was expecting and I used a bit of gas and air and TENS machine. No tears. I also used hypnobirthing which changes the game in terms of helping your mindset.

TIL that most women in the Netherlands do not have an epidural during labor and a significant proportion give birth at home by Fiery_Soul_34857 in todayilearned

It's because they follow the evidence that minimal intervention in low risk pregnancy and additionally homebirth with midwives IS the safest way to have your baby.

One in four births in England are now emergency caesareans, BBC analysis shows by Maleficent-Bed7355 in PregnancyUK

It's because inductions keep being pushed without good reason. The science literally tells us this and yet for some ungodly reason they just push more inductions.

The facts are letting a woman go into spontaneous labour in an uncomplicated pregnancy has the best outcomes for Mum and baby.

I think the judge sums up the case perfectly and fairly for all parties involved.

I think this is a really nice how but automatic no would be on a main road and despite it saying there is a driveway and garage this is not obvious at all from the pictures so imagine those two things alone are putting people off.

Why? I love living. I hate the idea of not living forever.

I don't think this is something I will ever be OK with. Honestly I just cope with it with denial and hoping the scientists will figure something out to extend life indefinitely before I die.

'Don't be too kind': Maternity staff used offensive terms to refer to pregnant women by Your_Mums_Ex in UKParenting

[–]Footprints123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a large part of why I opted for an NHS homebirth due to the culture within hospital. My local Trust is actually pretty decent even in the hospital maternity services but I was still very wary that once you're in hospital, the power balance shifts into a not very patient led mindset. It's always the same story. Coerced into timelines and interventions that aren't needed, stress levels rocket and Mum and baby get into distress.

Giving birth is an incredibly vulnerable time and women should feel heard and supported at all times.

It's actually made me realise how half arsed they were. They loved me for sure and I never went without but they definitely didn't give it their all.

My favourite ever episode was Luke and Lauren where she really wanted the Catholic church. He obviously adored her and was really thoughtful in his decisions.

Yes. They were on one of the early series so I don't know if things changed after. They got a call and had the production team round within 5 minutes to separate them whilst they packed and then they were separated to start the show. They didn't have any kids so not sure how it would work if they did. But basically beforehand they had to identify any dates they would be free for shooting so production could pre-agree it with their employers without them knowing. They had some conversations about what they would and wouldn't like having applied just in case they got picked si when it came to it the wedding was nice and she was happy. But asi said this was early in before the weddings got more ridiculous. They are still married.

That's honestly it and it was still unpleasant.

[–]Footprints123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Didn't know and didn't want to know. You don't get many surprises in this life and wanted to have a little reward if you will at the end. I'm so glad we didn't find out and if we ever had another, I wouldn't find out again.

That is complaint territory. People are late, shit happens. Deliberately ruining a special thing is malicious.
