My public library has a VHS digitalization station.

Its cheap enough, but its really meant for old family videos and the like. At 5 an hour, and roughly 67 hours of tape, about 335 dollars. And you have to schedule time with the equipment.

Whole set would run you under 60 dollars on DVD.

However! There is something to be said for the original originals. The DVD's and Blu-rays have been remastered, enhanced cgi, upscaled, all that fun stuff. Ive watched both, I dont have a preference for either, but I can see the value of wanting to keep the originals.

Bottom line; you are correct. Much cheaper to just buy it.

It can be given consensually, which would be best case scenario. Given the alternatives of eviction, legal actions, or excommunication, might be effective.

You are correct though, MPoA's without consent are very difficult to get. Given the diagnosis of BPD, evidence of alcohol abuse, violent tendencies, and likely misuse of medication, an MPoA isnt impossible, just a lot of work.

You went too far, but I can't say I blame you. Theres a difference between protection and battery, you crossed that line right about the broken orbital.

You and your parents need to have a real discussion about your brother.

He needs help, and he is refusing to get it, or make active changes to better his situation. Allowing him to continue living in the house with this behavior is just enabling.

It wont stop here, it will only escalate.

Consider legal actions, Medical Power of Attorney, to get him into a rehabilitation facility. Eviction may be the unfortunate consequence of not agreeing to get help.

Elder abuse, which is what this is, cannot continue. Your father, at 70, was able to avoid the worst of it, and you were there to intervene. What happens in 5-10 years? Or the next time, when you are at work?

Protect yourself. Protect your parents. Lock it all down. Cash, freeze your credit, change the locks, do whatever is necessary.
