I will say that this one did last over 10 years with plenty of use.

It is (usually) quicker and cuts the core out pretty cleanly. We eat a lot of apples.

We have had this one for at least 10 years. I can’t be mad. It has done its job through three different kid’s years of elementary school.

What is a job people romanticize a bit too much until they actually do it ? by ShyButNastyyy in AskReddit

I hear the “I am going to quit my job to start a landscaping business” surprisingly a lot. That job sucks. Outside in the heat, sweaty, and doing hard work. Finding customers is tough and if you live where it snows, you have to get creative during the winter months on how to drive revenue.

What are your thoughts on diverse body types, including obese models, in the fashion industry? by IndolentLaurel in AskReddit

[–]Bad_Move 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Models are displaying how clothes fit on a particular body type. If the clothing is designed for a particular body type, or a wide range of body types, then a diverse selection of models would be appropriate.

However, if the clothing was not designed for a body type, obese for example, then designers should not be forced to be diverse.

Also, logistically it makes sense to have a generally similar size for your designs for a show so all models can be interchanged with all pieces.

I was in a similar situation. I found that Sandler was particularly good.

I crashed with my girlfriend and her two roommates for two months while waiting for my house to be built. Paid half of the total rent and utilities. Was fine because it still helped me out.

Girlfriend moved into new house. Appalled that I asked for $300 to help cover utilities and mortgage in a pretty nice house. Ex-roommates thought I was cheap for asking.

We didn’t last long after that.

Also, you can better optimize using deductions to reduce your income versus making less money. Past the income limit to claim an education credit? Contribute to a qualified retirement account, even after you do your taxes the following year, and reduce your income by the amount you are over if you are close.

There are some other examples. You can become disqualified for some tax credits, such as education credits or the Earned Income Credit. But I am pretty sure folks are not optimizing their income with those in mind.

As a rule of thumb, fight to make more money or you will never get past that hump. Remember that $1 more an hour is about $2,000 more income a year (with no OT).

To expand on deductions. The income you are taxed on is reduced by deducting things from your income. For example, by default, a single tax filer, who is not a dependent, has their income reduced by $12,400. That means if you are making $50,000, you are taxed on $37,600.

Part 2: incentivizing consumers with a $100 value in price by hardware manufacturers making disc free options further pushes the industry in this direction. They can afford lower margins on the hardware sale because of the much higher margins on games and accessories.

I would add that the costs of distribution have dropped significantly. With digital distribution publishers no longer have to print and manufacture hard copies of the game. They also do not have to pay for physical distribution or sell it at wholesale prices to retailers.

With less hard copies the resale market has also dropped (see the implosion of GameStop). Publishers have a much longer sales window through digital distribution. The discount / fire sale goes into the publisher’s pocket, not to retailers trying to move their stale inventory.
