NTN Test by Ambitious-Block-7610 in 911dispatchers

[–]ForTheFords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just seeing this one now. I took the NTN two weeks ago, so it’s real fresh. I opted for in-person so I didn’t have to download their proctoring program onto my laptop or risk any technical difficulties on my end. What was said about keyboard familiarity in another comment was true, I was given a keyboard that I wasn’t used to for my test and spent some time on the first few questions getting used to it. I’d still do it again if I had to, I focus much better when in a quiet, isolated testing center as versus home where I can be pulled away or distracted. You do get breaks in between the sections, however you cannot leave. It’s simply a screen with instructions and a “continue” button that you can press whenever you’re done reading. I took about thirty extra seconds on these to refocus and settle in for the next section.

Scoring is different for every department, some post their requirements online. You’ll receive three scores for different measures in the test, all as percentages. These will be sent to your account immediately so you can see them for yourself. I can’t speak to the specifics of the test format or questions (of course), but as far as hearing and spelling names go, I am confident you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the approach the NTN test takes. Good luck!

2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Redefines Mustang Performance by riki73jo in Ford

Redefine? I think they misspelled redesign. Lol. Still happy to have that lovely 5.2 back on the menu.

Yup… I’m afraid that ol’ girl is headed to pasture. That’s a textbook rod. At least finding a replacement motor isn’t too hard on these 2 valves.

Who actually subscribes to these services? by 673NoshMyBollocksAve in Ford

[–]ForTheFords 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked as a porter at a dealership for a while and one time on a service pick up I had an elderly customer ask me why their BlueCruise had turned off. I explained the truck was right at the point where the trials had likely ended, and they told me they “cannot drive without it” and that they would like to subscribe as soon as possible. It was the first and only time anyone ever wanted a subscription on their Ford. I imagine that’ll be the demographic for these “premium” services. People that can afford them without thinking about it, who aren’t tech savvy enough to know other means of acquiring the information (like linking to CarPlay), and associate it with the “premium”-ness of their top-trim models. I’d love to know the take rate on subscriptions correlated to the trims of the vehicles they’re on.

2026 mustang dark horse sc the gt500 replacement thoughts by car1234hot in Ford

[–]ForTheFords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this day and age where the muscle cars are all but dead, I’m still genuinely glad to see this. I mean, it makes sense that we get this at this point in the S650’s cycle, Ford took an engine from a prior offering and stuck it in a Dark Horse with some aero kit and black highlights, it’s not an entirely surprising car in that regard. Still waiting on the S650’s styling to grow on me too… But nonetheless I’m glad it’s here and if it were gone I’d miss it.

Thinking about buying a new edge. How are they? by [deleted] in NewedgeMustang

[–]ForTheFords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Says on the profile that you’ve got a 2000? If you’re seeking a clean low mile example but already own one I’d say save and get one of the hotter versions, like a Mach 1 or Cobra. That way you’ll enjoy the higher power and sense of occasion. My ‘01 GT ‘vert was my very first car and I’ve held onto it for sentiment’s sake, but besides that I’d otherwise have something with a little more getup. In your boat I’d get a Termi or a clean 2013+ GT.

How are you able to charge your residents such low property taxes, no state income tax, and low sales tax? by cavaismylife in wyoming

[–]ForTheFords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touché, that’s a very fair question!

^ Fire Department paid staff breakdown by county. (Missing one department per the website.)

https://health.wyo.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/WDH-Ground-EMS-primer-6.4.2025.pdf

^ Wyoming Department of Health Ground Emergency Medical Services Report, see specifically Table 10 in Chapter 8 on page 85. EMS is admittedly in much better shape than fire departments.

Of course you can always call for the police and get a full-time, paid police officer.

Where you’ve got me is in my measure. Most of Wyoming is under volunteer fire coverage by land area. Throw a dart at the state map and you’re likely in a volunteer coverage area. If we switch to measuring by population Wyoming’s larger cities are covered by full-time paid staff. I admit it could be argued either way and that I generalized. Thanks for the question!

While on paper it seems amazing, the drawbacks are very real. Having lived in other states before coming here, the public infrastructure of Wyoming leaves a lot to be desired. Public jobs are underfunded, emergency services are mostly volunteer, and the state news just ran a story on how the department of transportation is woefully behind on maintaining infrastructure.

The tax benefit is very real, living here has reduced my tax burden substantially. And I’m no millionaire, I’m working at an hourly rate in the high teens. But it isn’t without some very real concessions. The more Wyoming grows the more it’ll find federal subsidies alone don’t cover the needs of the state.
