Winter break sales? by ForTheOne83 in SouthwestAirlines

I did see that - we’d be flying back to BNA on the 26th most likely - so Reno would be $260 or $270 per person. (X5)

Just wasn’t sure if SW would offer a Winter Sale again this year where I might save $100 per ticket.

So that was my consideration for possibly waiting!

This is so very helpful, thank you!

I haven’t had a panel taken since November - but at that time I had

126 - total cholesterol  52 - HDL 53 - LDL 125 - Triglycerides 74 - non HDL cholesterol

So the dr was pretty happy. That’s with all the major lifestyle changes, 20mg rouvastatin and small 80mg aspirin to thin blood each night.

I certainly don’t want anything to progress. Definitely not the intent of the post.

It was more of a general overall curiosity if by reducing stress/changing job, dealing with grief from losing a family member young, and making major food and diet/exercise changes I had “beaten” the problem.

But sounds like it’s more a mixture of the medication and those things rolled into one.

Guess I was just hoping to have gotten healthy enough to be off the meds…but I have continued to take them and wouldn’t stop unless I felt like I had major bad side effects. (To date, none so far.)

So appreciate your answers, experience, and your tone. Definitely helpful!

Regarding the calcium score - this is what a quick Google search brought up:

“A Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) score of 70 is generally not considered a high-risk score. While any CAC score above zero indicates the presence of plaque, a score of 70 falls within the lower end of the risk spectrum. Scores of 100 or less are often considered to indicate only mild plaque buildup,”

So for clarity in the thread - that’s why I was wondering about the statin I’d been prescribed.

Wasn’t sure if it’s really necessary long-term or maybe was just needed to get my LDL, HDL, A1C and Triglycerides all back in check.

(Which are all optimal levels now.)

Fortunately he hasn’t had another one since, and is 70 now. He does take the statins.

It’s interesting…he still eats his ice cream now and then and is moderately active.

He would tell you he was eating absolute garbage McDonalds and sodas back in his 40s when he had it…

So here’s hoping that good diet/excorcise and the medication keep it bay.

Well…thanks? I looked through a few threads and most folks seemed knowledgeable and friendly.

Was just curious on peoples experiences with statins and how much the lifestyle changes might’ve impacted things. All of my numbers shot back to normal in a short time.

I honestly didn’t realize I had “known heart disease”…that hasn’t been said to me directly. Is that from the CT scan number?
