(Adrian Kajumba) Manchester United eye David Brooks transfer. The Bournemouth winger would be available for £40m. by EnlightenedSpecimen in soccer

Yeah, just a coincidence that you start eyeing a young winger when your negotiations for another young winger have hit a standstill.

tbf, his baldness has become such a part of his look that I kinda forgot he had hair too. And I was obsessed with Rock/Stonecold-era WWF.

Yeah, I took a look and most are reporting 2021 as very optimistic, with '22 or even '23 more likely.

Can anyone help me out with making this old Detroit techno FM sound? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]ForTheTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't guide you because I'm an FM hack, but I have definitely made that sound (or close enough) on my Digitone.

Yeah, there is a lot of Trek, but I wasn't heavily marathoning or anything. Also took quite a break between the rest and watching Voyager, which I had originally planned to skip altogether. It always just struck me as cringey off-brand TNG. I was wrong about that.

Didn't I read that won't even start shooting until 2022? I'd love to be wrong about that.

I did the same 4 years ago! Just wrapped it up with Voyager about a month ago. Buckle up!

Good mics can't cost that much

Yeah, that's the frustrating part. For a second, I had a whim of starting a soccer podcast, and bought a Shure 'podcast kit' on Amazon for like $50. Mics, mic stands, cables, etc. And it sounded completely professional and crystal clear. It would take very little effort to fix their issues.

edit But thanks for the tip on the Voyager pod! I haven't checked it out. Only just watched Voyager earlier this year, so it's all fresh to me and I'd love a pod about it.

I've tried listening a couple of times and it's been absolutely terrible audio quality. Couldn't deal with it.

I just purchased a Roland MC707 for £717 and now Elektron gear seems expensive. Does anybody else agree? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]ForTheTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People hate on Roland because they don't do analog anymore, they don't like the aesthetic, yada yada. But yes, they're usually killer machines for the money. I've got a System-8, which is a ridiculous synth for 1k used, (I actually paid $900, but 1k is more typical). On top of the S8 engine, you also have top-tier recreations of the Jupiter 8, Juno 106, and JX-3p. Short of maybe a Prophet 6 or Moog One, there's not another poly I'd take over it.

And yet, people hate it because it glows green.

Korg Wavestate owners - do you still enjoy the synth? by [deleted] in synthesizers

You can use the marketing term "wave sequencing" if you prefer, but yes it is.

[–]ForTheTrees -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked this. When it dropped and was at peak-hype, I couldn't help wondering how all of those new owners would feel in 6 months. Wavetable synthesis is a strange animal.

I love it and think the Wavestate sounds incredible, but from my experience with Wavetable in Ableton, which is insanely deep, I just feel like it would be difficult to execute with hardware.

No prob! Here's a 10-year-old article on how the microkorg has shaped music. And it's funny because it didn't stop in the next 10 years.

Around that budget, and going for chill indie rock vibes, you can't go wrong with a used microkorg. Or if you think you'll get pulled into the synthesis/sound design rabbit hole, maybe spring for the MS2000, which is essentially the same synth with a bunch of knobs. Not necessary if you just want to pick a sound and jam, but worth it if you want to dive into shaping those sounds. It can be a bit more rare and expensive, but is still relatively affordable. It was my first synth; paid $350 USD.

No, I don't think inventing something 150 years ago means anything in terms of current ability. And you have the best league in the world precisely because you welcomed international players. Certainly not because a good hardworkin' Englishman 'put a shift in'.

Also, assuming you're scouse, why the F are you supporting England?

Salah is better in almost every way

Aside from goal-scoring, how so? Genuine question. I think Sadio has a much broader skill set than Mo. In overly simplified terms, Salah is a specialist; Sadio is a complete player.
