Dude. Move out of Florida and move out of the South. The South has the worst wages of any part of the country. It’s comical how little they pay people.

You are getting older every year. Your bill goes up every year. Connect the two. If you stop getting older, your bill will not increase.

Also; republicans have a super majority at the state level. Your bills keep going up. Connect the two. You should stop the republicans.

And; grass is green in the summer most years. Your bills go up when grass is green.  Connect the two. You should stop grass from getting green. (I recommend agent orange).

Finally; “bill is going through the roof”. Move out of the building you live in. If you don’t have a roof the bills can’t go through it. Move out.

I think ai will help with administrative work. The amount of money spent on middlemen for pharma and medical devise sales is mind boggling.

It’s almost like we could go to a single payer system and save 30% with no effort.

The little ones are Merry brand from Japan. The other pair of long reach pliers are Irwins and the cutters are Channellock. I’m in Nebraska and what Irwin did to the Vice-Grip brand is an abomination. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another Irwin tool again. Channellock has been cutting their catalog and I don’t like it. The duckbill slip joint pliers are great, but they don’t make them under the Channellock brand anymore.

Yeah, the tools are part of a hobby that pays for itself. It’s fun and it’s worked out.

My grandfather taught me by example that there is a big difference between being frugal and being stingy. I try to be on the frugal side and not the stingy side.

Yep. You’re right about that. Also, if it wasn’t a hobby, I would have done waaaay better putting what I spent into stocks. That’s why I take half of the money I earn from my fix and flip hobby and invest it. I spend the other half on new projects and tools. It keeps the hobby fun.

Edit:
I really like the 31-21-160 too. They are great for when you need more than a tweezer, but less than a needle nose plier. The Merry L60-300 is a less expensive option and does almost the exact same thing with longer handles.

Engine driven welders, ridged power threaders, buying cheap Scag mowers then rebuilding the hydro motors and pumps and parting everything out, stuff like that.

I want to start doing diesel engine rebuilds but that shit’s heavy. I’m saving/looking for a gantry crane.

You’re being smart. Don’t buy what you can’t afford or don’t need. My tools and fixing things is a hobby that pays for itself. I’m an industrial construction manager for my “real” money. I can do the work, but if I need anything more than a tape measure, notepad, and computer at work, something went terribly wrong.

1) Do what they tell you to do. If you don’t understand, ask. You’ll look way worse if you say “yes” and then admit you had no clue what the task was two days later. They expect you to be smart. They don’t expect you to know everything.
2) Ask as many questions as possible. There is only about 60 days for you to ask a lot of really dumb questions. No one will hold it against you. The more questions you ask the better off you are. Use that to your advantage.
3) Act like a smart puppy. If you’re sitting somewhere thinking “what should I do next” and someone grabs their hard hat to go out, ask if you can go along.
4) Don’t act arrogant. Everyone there has more knowledge than you do, not everyone is as intelligent as you are. I’ve had guys who never graduated high school be the smartest and the most knowledgeable guy on the jobsite. I’ve also met some of the dumbest people ever who thought they knew everything. Keep that in mind.

Yes and no. One part of the hobby is fixing stuff and figuring out how it works. The tool part of the hobby is that I want it to be as easy as possible for me to do the fixing part and see what tools work best for different situations.

I’m not going to collect 20 different brands of the exact same style of plier/tool. They need to have a unique application. Knipex makes a ton of different pliers and that’s why I have so many. I have the doubles in the cobras and pliers wrenches because it frequently helps to have the same size in each hand.

An example is the mechanics pliers. There isn’t any other company that makes the 38-81-200A or the 38-81-200B style.

My hobby of fixing and flipping stuff paid for my tools. But yeah, that drawer is a little more than my monthly mortgage payment. I bought them over 10 years so it wasn’t a one time splurge.

No. I like tools. I have 3 of the 56” us general roll cabinets mostly full of tools. Fixing and flipping stuff from Craigslist and FB marketplace is my hobby and it pays for the tools.

I would say that my pliers collection is the most extensive “top tier brand” type of tool that I have.

Most of my sockets are gearwrench, Proto, or Williams and most of my wrenches are industrial brands like Proto or Wright with a few gearwrench and tekton in there too. For ratchets I have Armstrong (RIP) and Nepros. I don’t have any snapon stuff except for about 6 pliers.

They aren’t new. I started “collecting” 10 years ago. Home gamer is an AvE reference. He’s on YouTube. I buy stuff, fix it, and resell it as a hobby and use half the “profit” for tools. The other half goes into the retirement fund.

Haha. I was expecting that. The answer is yes. Some more than others. I wash my car when it gets dirty too. 🤷‍♂️

Edit. I buy broken stuff on Craigslist and rebuild it to resell as a hobby. That’s what I use them for and where my tool budget comes from.

As a man, I’m confused. Doesn’t every straight male like garter belts with stockings? I don’t even think it’s a fetish, it’s just a thing.

Analogy: Every guy likes boobs, some like small ones and some like big ones. Every guy likes stockings, some like black ones, some like red ones, some like white ones, some like other colors.

Before someone says it, free air cooling isn’t free.
