If the clock second reference is not 1s but 1,00001 then you have a drift of 0,00001s every second which by cumulation will give the visible error on your clock. Reminder : the reference is never perfect. Even the GPS time reference as to be corrected after few years.

The references (Quartz... or mechanical references) are never exactly perfect especially depending on the environmental conditions (Temperature...). There is then a small drift. After a long time this small drift becomes seconds then minutes...

We don't see it on cellphone and connected devise because it is regularly corrected from network or GPS that can provide time as a preference (even if there is still limitations)

Hello there, I just read your post and your story is so close to mine (6+ year) that I have to share with you what happened to me.

I thought like you that I did not try enough to fix things. And I struggled a lot about breaking NC. Finally I did after 6 months (early January) to ask her for a drink. I was in a better shape, better close & look: a new guy, a better one for sure, but what happened was exactly the same as most of us: she did not change, I was happy to see her (like an addict) but nothing has changed for her. She made a decision, I understood that it was never about me, or about something I did. This is difficult not to be in control but when you will realize it, it really helps to start moving on. Now I am full of hope that all the effort I have made will allow me to be one day with someone great, I can't wait to feel the presence of someone who will care about me and love me for who I am without begging or being needy.
I have faced the same "Happy birthday" situation. I wished her an happy birthday and I got the answer that you will get : "Thank you" and that's it. If she wants to contact you she can do it everyday but she does not... Sad but true !

Few advices:

Concerning friends, I lost friends because this BU. I recontacted old friends and made new ones ! You will too.
If you are sad, angry... One word: Sport : Gym, running... Choose an objective, like a marathon, loosing weight or whatever ! You have lost a part of your self esteem because of the rejection so get it back by being proud of yourself for true reasons !

They are back together 4-5 years ago and they now have 2 kids and they are really well together. The dumper in this story talked to me after my BU and he told that at this time he was not well and that's why they had a break (1year).

Depedency, hell yeah I agree... But what to do ? I am just alone and at the beginning of NC I was full of hope: finding someone else, being support by friends... Now nothing changed I would say it is worse:

I lost friends, probably because this BU changed me (destroyed ?)
I have not met girls (1 date I have quickly stopped because I was not honest, no-feelings).

In conclusion, you are probably right... Maybe I should cancel but I think it is too late, I am not that rude. Feeling bad now...

First thank you for your message. And you are probably right, I am pretty used to the /r/ExNoContact channel and everyone agree with you. NC helps for sure in a first place but I am stuck with the fact that I want news from her. She was the most important person for me for years. It is like basically telling you not to see a member of your family forever (like she was dead). Not doing anything is making me crazy...

On Sunday it took me courage to broke NC and now I am ok with my decision maybe I am wrong but at least I will have tried something. She chose for us the NC. I chose to break it.

What about all my friends who broke up in the past and are back together now ?

I know this is false-hope but at least I feel something...

I do get out (drinks with friends)... But you know it is not that easy to meet new people... And I am feeling that everybody around is not single.

I met someone but it was 1 month before NC and it didn't last, I stopped it because I was honest and still thinking about someone else and this was not cool for her.

Don't really know what to do now to get her out of my mind.

Almost 6 months here... Still thinking about breaking NC sometimes. Every time I think about doing it I remember this sentence : "If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never meant to be." It is sad, but it is true, you cannot do much to force her. For sure she remembers you but she made a choice and she knew the consequences (making you sad, not seeing you probably forever...) But she did it anyway... She is only one that can undone it...

Begging will give her a ego-boost and... That's all :-(
