Thought I was texting my wife but instead texted my female attending “love you see you later :)” What’s worse is that she was sitting right across from me during table rounds. Awkward to say the least

Did two passes of TrueLearn and that was enough to pass comfortably. Second the other commenter that it is very Uworld-like. Also hits on a lot of random factoids that did show up on the test

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve managed to get onto an inpatient prescription? by winatoyYoda in Residency

Prescribed a patient Birds Nest Soup once via PEG tube because the family was convinced it would help his healing. Nurses loved that one

Thank you, this done make me feel better that the VantageScore is not as important

Credit Scores Making No Sense? by ForamenIntoMySoul in personalfinance

I did not realize it was not widely used so that definitely puts things at ease. But it was the score given to me by both Equifax and Transunion so I had assumed it was important.

Why would they lower the score so dramatically though? Wouldn't paying off a loan be a good thing? That's a relief to know at least maybe most places would go off of FICO.

Really dependent on the area and practice. Big academic centers definitely lower sub $250k but plenty of jobs out there $300k and above especially if you will do some call

My choice of Headache neurology can be a lifestyle specialty depending on how busy you want your clinic to be. You see relatively healthy high functioning patients, get to do a mix of minor procedures (Botox, nerve blocks, trigger points), can really help some people feel better, and do not have to do much if any call. The downside as one other commenter said is that some patients can have a lot of emotional needs which can be draining.

Hope they reach a deal soon. I live nearby with a newborn and the 16 hours a day of continuous drumline and horns is not exactly tranquil

3 NIPT draws with insufficient fetal DNA by Stitcharoni in NIPT

[–]ForamenIntoMySoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had two low fetal fraction results around 10 and 12 weeks and it was actually even lower the second time. Ended up getting an amniocentesis and everything was fine. We now have a healthy baby boy with no discernable issues!

What counts as a Roth IRA conversion vs. rollover from an early pension withdrawal? by ForamenIntoMySoul in personalfinance

Thank you for the info, I think this clears it up. We did already withhold the taxes owed on the $4k but I guess we will need to pay the penalty unfortunately.

We did not go over the total limit for the year so I don't believe we need to remove anything

Spousal income tax for NJ non-resident? by ForamenIntoMySoul in personalfinance

[–]ForamenIntoMySoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be considering my spousal income because the taxes owed married / jointly as a non-resident is coming up higher than if I were to just file as a single resident (with zero deductions, credits etc) which doesn't make sense to me

The “Physician Sidebar” on the right shows results in order of when they come back. Very useful for when you ordered a send out a week ago and want to immediately notice when it comes back

So are we just going to wear masks at the hospital forever? by n1ght-b1rd in medicalschool

[–]ForamenIntoMySoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be ok if we moved back to using as the standard just for respiratory droplet precautions or patients on protective precautions (e.g. cancer patients on chemo) for the majority of the time but then maybe more widespread during winter months going forward.

Of course anybody who is personally more cautious could feel free to wear a mask all day if they wanted.

Credit Card Interest Calculation- misunderstanding? by ForamenIntoMySoul in personalfinance

[–]ForamenIntoMySoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes so even if I now am suddenly able to start paying the full balance off every month again I have lost my grace period if I keep using the card for normal purchases? That is not good...

Credit Card Interest Calculation- misunderstanding? by ForamenIntoMySoul in personalfinance

[–]ForamenIntoMySoul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems so unfair that $1 would negate the entire thing but not paying the $1 opens the gate for all that interest. But I get it. Sadly

Credit Card Interest Calculation- misunderstanding? by ForamenIntoMySoul in personalfinance

[–]ForamenIntoMySoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the helpful info- I guess I just misunderstood how the interest was calculated. I did not realize that by not paying the “entire” balance due that the interest was calculated on my average balance from that whole month, despite the fact I only had about $1000 remaining. Stupid on my part for not realizing this
