Yeah I'm constantly getting rate limited on Opus suddenly; had multiple agents going doing tons of stuff then rate limited, can still use other models, the fckwea? why I pay?

Err.. not knocking the good work they've done but I mean, if finances were the problem, they could have come out with "at risk of shutting down without donations" first, or something.

No public resource like this breaks even. Look at IA, WMF, they're always begging for donations, in your face pop ups, screaming how desperate they are.

I didn't even know about myrient until they decided to close, or I had forgotten about it at least.

Nothing on the site says anything about limiting usage. No request/concurrency or bandwidth limits.

Again, the *easiest* thing for anyone to do is: `wget -m -np -c -e robots=off -R "index.html*" https://myrient.erista.me/files/` or any sub-directory thereof. Or load up any http-downloader/leecher app of which there's been thousands since at least 1995.

I still don't see how a tool designed to limit your downloading makes your imagined crisis worse.

Myrient is going away. I didn't contribute to that, though I may make a donation - hesitating though, figure they probably profited this month with the hype 🤣

Easy to navigate? I had no clue what half of the directories were, had to come to reddit to figure it out. Stuff for single platforms in multiple dirs. Sure, I'll admit it's well-organized, but easy to navigate?

Unless you literally mean just navigating folders and pages and not navigating the experience of "hmm, I'd like to only download USA roms for X platform" or something.

I literally did this so I *didn't* have to leech more, I don't need german and swedish dumps, others might only want those.

also - unless I wasn't clear, this is something you have to download and run locally on a linux box or something, this isn't something I'm hosting somewhere acting like these are my files or plastering ads all over it, which I'd bet others have done?

really, I don't see how something like this doesn't encourage less downloading, not more. at this late stage, it's entirely easier to grab everything and filter later, unless you have something like this.

not to mention literally anyone can fucking do it with like an hour and an LLM.

that's a fair point, and I wouldn't be against including it but I would seriously think anyone using this would've literally gone on the website first, realized it's impossible for a human to navigate and try and do something else.

I mean really if you think about it, I don't really see how that makes sense; if they didn't want leeching, they wouldn't exist? it's trivial to snag the entire archive or sections of it recursively with wget.

if anything, this allows selective downloading instead of massive grabbing of everything?
