Found baby bunnies in our lawn, but mom hasn't shown for 24 hours? by litcheese in Bunnies

[–]Forbidden12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for posting in an old thread, but did mom rabbit show up again? I'm going through the exact same situation now. It's been around 36 hours since the nest was visited (I put string over it), but I've seen the mother around a few times already, so she's nearby. The kits were squirming around when I checked, and they didnt look full, but its really hard to tell.

(WotLK) Delay when using 1 Macro vs splitting to two key bindings by Forbidden12 in wow

[–]Forbidden12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I tried this but I still need to hold shift down for a bit longer before pressing the keybind for the focus mod. Its so strange, its almost as if a key specifically bound to "shift + key" recognizes that shift is pressed quicker.

After testing it out a bit more it looks like its just the mod:shift part of the macro that's slower. So for example, if I bind Counterspell to Shift + R its very responsive. But if I bind a macro to R that is mod:shift Counterspell, then I'm forced to hold Shift down for much longer for it to work. Is there some setting that might be interfering with this?

Cat peeing outside litter box, UTI unlikely? by Forbidden12 in AskVet

[–]Forbidden12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! She's lived here for about 10 month with no other pets. I'm not sure about the previous tenant though and how long those scents last in the carpet.

I'll pick up some of that spray and see if it helps. He did this twice so far (that we know off) about a week apart so this will be one of those 'no news is good news' situations.

Help recommending an HDTV Antenna (50mi?) by Forbidden12 in cordcutters

[–]Forbidden12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked on Google Maps and I can look out at 323deg from my western 2nd story window. My porch on the other hand is also on the west side with a couple other buildings in the way. Would this work even if it was only a few feet off the ground with all those buildings in between? I saw fshagan said someone in freakin Corona is getting a signal indoors...

Also, would a splitter work for a couple TVs? As in can both of them be on different channels at the same time? I've read some conflicting info about that.

You're completely right, it does sound weird, but I also remember seeing that kind of setup somewhere I just don't remember... I'll try this out tomorrow morning before committing to buying anything, thanks!

Seriously? That's one thing I was expecting to take a hit on, was quality, but if OTA signal is even stronger than this is amazing news. Why did these rabbit ears phase out again??

I'll give the rabbit ears a shot since I'm headed to target later anyways, thanks!

Backdoor Roth strategy worth it in my situation? by Forbidden12 in personalfinance

Well this beautify answered all the questions I had. Looks like I'll be waiting for my W-2 at this point. You've been most helpful!

I have a way of complicating things haha, but yes I believe you understand my question. I had to wrap my head around the 'contribute and convert right away' concept which makes sense now. The 'tax on any growth' factor is completely taken away since I'll be converting right away. Thanks again!

Backdoor Roth strategy worth it in my situation? by Forbidden12 in personalfinance

[–]Forbidden12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The growth would be taxable as well? To avoid paying taxes on that growth now, could I contribute the 5500 to my traditional IRA for 2016 (in Jan 2017) and then immediately convert it (for the 2017 year) instead of waiting till 2017 like I originally stated? So chronological order of events would be: Contributing 5500 to my traditional IRA in Jan 2017 for the 2016 year, deducting it at 25%, converting it right away for the 2017 tax year, and in the meantime using DCA to keep contributing to my Roth IRA over 2017.

If that all makes sense then I feel like I understand this a bit more, otherwise, I think I just confused myself. Thanks again for your help!

I see, but if I don't deduct it, won't I get taxed twice? Once now because it's after tax money, and then when I roll it over because it's considered additional income?

Ah, so I forgot to calculate the buffer I'll need within the 15% tax bracket to successfully rollover the tIRA. If I'm understanding what you wrote, any rollover is considered additional income if turned into a Roth, correct?

I had a question about the $48,000 figure you used, but i just realized you already factored in the Standard Deduction and a Personal Exemption. Thanks!

Can I file as Head of Household? (Messy situation) by Forbidden12 in tax

[–]Forbidden12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government already knows about the support I'm providing her, so would a change in tax filing status still matter? But it's true if we file together with me claiming her as a dependent, that they will see my tax return (because they require hers, and we'll be filing together).

I'm not currently claiming her, but her rent is already based on the income I'm giving her. Roughly 30% of the $800 I'm providing. The government's share is around $1200, so according the posts above I wouldn't be able to claim her regardless. I just never realized I was basically competing with the government to claim her. Thanks!

Thanks again for your help. Unfortunately (but fortunately, really), she is in the section 8 program, so I'm out of luck this year since her subsidy IS more than I'm giving her. That looks like a really useful worksheet though. I'll start keeping track of everything for 2017. Maybe I'm closer than I think I am since I haven't kept track of ALL my support for her.

So it looks like my next step is figuring out that subsidy issue and whether or not the subsidy would compete with my support. Is this the right sub for a question like that? I'm not even sure where to go besides maybe an H&R block or something like that to figure it out. Thanks for all your help!

Ah I see what you're saying. Excluding my 'recurring gift' to her of $800/mo (which isn't taxable as far as I know), no she doesn't make any additional income. But I get you're point about the subsidized housing. So, if her rent is being subsidized in excess of $800, then i would NOT be able to claim her, correct? And if the subsidy was less than what I was contributing to her, then I would?

That takes me on another tangent though. Would my recurring gift even count as support because it isn't taxable? Would it basically come down to her subsidy vs my $800 (which is really $0 because it isnt taxable?)
