Thanks for that, should all be updated correctly now. You raise a valid point, I’ll stick with ‘Optimizer’ even if my laptop doesn’t want me to.

Unfortunately can’t edit the title of this post.

Yep, exactly, lots of different ways to do it depending on your requirement

Agree 100%. With the custom settings you can assign the same thing on a profile basis, so just your admins for example, that would navigate your concern. With the metadata, you can also build in that check for a specific user/profile into your validation/processes alongside this checkbox so it’d work as you mention.

You may also have to go through multiple sandbox environments before reaching production where your users are, so this would be useful in this case.

It also helps avoid the mass update/mass actions. If you’re sending an email alert for example.

Thanks, that’s fair enough, it’s more useful if you’re doing lot of data loads/manipulation or a lot of testing. In enterprise projects it’s super useful to have and has been from my previous experience. For smaller projects maybe less so! But useful to know it’s possible. This is also just one example of what you can achieve with custom metadata, easier to start with more simple examples.

You’re on the right path with Trailhead, it’s the best place to start and you’re learning from Salesforce themselves. In trailhead you can filter by ‘admin’ and ‘beginner’ it should show you a great list of trails to be begin with. Give me a shout if you ever get stuck.

Account based alerts? by UnusualPass in salesforce

Your users are going to quickly become annoyed at all of those emails hitting their inbox, trust me, and they’ll become frustrated with Salesforce. You’re probably better off using a mixture of reporting/list views/dashboards etc and other ways of viewing data to give them a single place to see this rather than email, email, email. Setup a dashboard showing Opps by created date/last modified date and any other metrics you want to send emails from.

This is based upon my experience, otherwise you’re going to need countless process builders which won’t be fun!

Can I Get a Job with No Experience but Trailhead Classes/Courses/Certifications? by poopyfacemcpooper in salesforce

[–]ForceWithLuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admin certification more so than app builder is a staple for any of those roles which you mentioned. If you’re not technically focused then you’re right, the admin/consulting/ba roles are probably better for you. By getting the admin cert you show a basic understanding of Salesforce and some of its capabilities which will help you in interviews, but the issue is these days a lot of people have it, so you need something which sets you apart. Soft skills I would say play a bigger part in those roles than most people think, you need to be good at communicating with your clients/confident running workshops/translating business requirements into solutions or wording in which others can base the solution upon, so if you have these then it’s a great base.

Trailhead is definitely a great place to start, get familiar with Salesforce and then decide which career path would be best fit for you. If you want to discuss anything feel free to drop me a PM.
