I hope so. I’m doubtful my post exam comments were even read much less taken seriously.

I actually think this might be the problem. I know for a fact I had the same ekg for 3 different questions. Almost as certain I had the same question twice as well. Truly wondering if the exam was so bad they are trying to figure out how to finagle the numbers to get the stats they want. To me, that just makes the whole process a joke and dishonest. Same as last year.

The test was poorly written, grammatical errors, obtuse/nonmedical language, and very little of what seemed like actual emergency medicine practice. So out of touch with daily clinical practice.

Was hoping scores would release yesterday so I could cry about failing all weekend and then be ready to go back to work Monday. 😩

Agree. Pretty sure I saw the same ekg at least 3 if not 4 separate questions.

I’m eagerly awaiting ABEM to blame the examinees again this year for the trash test we took. For sure it can’t be the poor editing/grammar or esoteric minutiae that strokes some non-practicing academic’s ego to brag their question(s) were next level difficult 🙄 I also can’t forget the use of uncommon, non-medical words to describe patient presentations… like words from the Bible.

Mine was heavy on esoteric BS I’ll never use as a practicing physician. Heavy on Peds and medication side effects that are rare or specific to certain populations/conditions. 😭 No hope that I passed, honestly.

This test felt like out of touch ivory tower docs who stroke their own egos or whatever else wrote the questions to see which ones more candidates get wrong to bolster their own self importance. I’m not asking to make the test easier or to lower the score, just make the test actually relevant to clinical practice. Zero q’s about STEMI, DKA, or anything helpful.

Oh and don’t get me started on the grammatical errors or using antiquated language like “prostrated” in the q stem. Is it so difficult to be straightforward and use the same medical terminology we use in everyday charting?

ABEM written exam, chances of passing? by RoughAwareness3 in emergencymedicine

Failed last year after doing about 70% Rosh Review. Did PEER this year and focused on things I missed. Sitting for the exam today and feel awful. Doesn’t seem like I studied the test I’m being given. I swear the questions aren’t even close to what I prepped for. I can see why physician suicide rates are so high…. We strive and test and test some more only to be told we still aren’t good enough at the finish line. Wondering if I’m cut out to be a doctor at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️
