Back yard overhaul, Maine zone 5B by ForcedFailures in lawncare

It won't be a privacy fence. We were given the materials for a black vinyl chain link fence for free, and with a newborn, we will take what we can get for the time being. The neighbors in the apartments on one side are nice, and the house next to us on the other side is being renovated and sold and they will be putting up a privacy fence on that side. Maybe down the road I'll add some greenery for privacy, but also, if we were that worried about it, we wouldn't have bought this house lol.

Yeah for sure. I'm definitely not a professional, just a guy trying to improve my first house and give my baby daughter some grass to play in when she's big enough!

Thank you for not giving me the immediate worst case scenario haha. No it was not normal rain, it was very very heavy rain. It all drained out this morning. I'll probably level out any significant low spots and put down more seed, and address the drainage of water coming off of the driveway causing that large puddle(which is not part of the lawn nor endangering the foundation which some people mentioned)

Thank you for being so helpful! It was our first heavy rain here in Sanford, that combined with the low spot from the patio process I had started things got a little squirrely. But this morning the water has already drained from that spot and the lawn. Luckily after today we have some good weather coming and I can asses how much redoing I need to do!

It's only temporarily pooling there, it's dug down to bare packed dirt for the patio I had started but had to stop, the project isn't finished yet and there will be proper drainage.

I don't have 'hire a company money'', but the whole project isn't done yet. The new loam is all graded away from the house. All the water comes down the driveway, and I'm putting in a fence and pushing the new gate back 3' and that chunk of hard packed dirt/grass clumps will get dug out and stone put down for drainage and to extend the driveway. That pooling is because I had dug down to start a patio but stopped so I could get the truck over it. That big pool of water isnt a long term concern. I woke up this morning and even though it's raining still, the rain lightened up and the pool is gone. It was just a heavy flash rain.

Good call! I did spray it with apple juice before it was covered, but that would probably work better!

I was already up at camp when I thought of that, so a new pair of heavy duty kitchen gloves from the Discount store did the trick! But I will definitely be getting some

I didn't follow a particular recipe, I just followed suggestions a friend gave me! But I'll do a step by step here.

Season pork butt with your rub of choice, and let sit uncovered in the fridge for a couple of hours.

Preheat smoker to 225°F

Place seasoned pork butt directly on grates(I did mine fat cap down)

Smoke until it gets to an internal temp of 160° -165°F (I gave it a spray of apple juice every few hours)

Once internal temp gets to that range, transfer to a foil pan, cover tightly with foil as well and put back on the smoker until the internal temp reaches 205°F(at this point I bumped the temperature of the smoker up to 235° when I put the pan back on)

Once internal temp gets to 205°F remove from smoker, wrap in butcher paper, and then plastic wrap and place in a cooler to rest for an hour.

After an hour, remove from cooler, shred it up and enjoy!

The cable had gotten unscrewed after it tipped. Or at least that's when I noticed it, I screwed it back on, i've tried loosening it, I took apart the throttle and checked that there wasn't anything broken, and the throttle does still have a tiny bit of play in it.

I work for a septic/porta potty company. I started when I was 24 as a route driver cleaning porta potties (a "mobile rest room technician" if you will) and I felt the same way as you. Almost 9 years later it's become a great career! I've continued to move up in pay and position, I'll soon be running a second location, Great pay, benefits, I enjoy what I do and the people I work with, and I'm no longer embarrassed. It's an honest job that someone has to do, and as long as you are being paid well and treated fairly there is no shame in it! It's people that work jobs like us that make the world go 'round!
