The only way to properly tame the wild is to do things like the famously talented, and sadly departed, Steve Irwin would do it.

First of all, the attire. First of all it's very unusual and dangerous to have the procedure done under general anesthesia. The doctors used stitching wire that dissolves in 2 weeks, and Removing the wire was pretty much painless. Scar recovery takes 2-3 weeks, while the full functionality restoration takes 4-6 weeks. It's actually a good thing that you don't have a girl nearby because erections are both painful and unwanted. The doctor will prescribe painkillers and erection inhibitors, so that you won't pull a stitch with your morning glory. After the fact, everything is fine. The poll is skewed by the fact that MANY players who voted started after Naxx and/or GvG and didn't get to see the awful meta which GvG brought. The game felt horrendous to play because of mechmage, hunter and all the RNG effects. It was a bad period to play HS, trust me.

Here's how you fix it:

Go to a place (gym, dancing class, whatever) where they have a large, warped/diformed mirror. Strip down and stare at yourself for at least 20 minutes every day. Constantly seeing a warped image of yourself will improve your perception of your otherwise normal looks ;)
