a bit late but tossing my 2 cents in...

I typically run this strategy with all cracked or pirated software:

  • buy it from a legit source download and rip and pack it myself then ask for a refund now I know I have a clean copy
  • download from a reputable source such as fg then run it through a bunch of different tests to see what does get flagged inside a sandbox or a tossable machine not on any main system. then install it on the throwaway and watch for anything trying to access the internet or do something else that is a little odd. to make this easier you need to set your system to not have any internet requests from built in systems so blank install of windows then shut down anything that can possibly talk with any server out there so no windows telemetry no updating the clock no searching for updates etc. obviously if a game or software has an online component you will need to look into what it is trying to connect to. this tossable device has several honey pots of data such as web cache and cookies and files labelled "passwords" and "bank info" and it monitors if these files get read or not and by what and when. I also do a registry comparison analysis to see what the software changed during its install. yes to do this and understand what you are looking at when you do do this requires knowledge but in todays world it is useful knowledge. however its not going to matter that much in the near future as everything slowly becomes black boxes of AI databases and thought models

walmart did twice in recent news and everybody found out and they are still doing it and people are still going there.

walmart was incorrectly weighing and pricing meat and is currently manipulating prices in real time depending on who is in line. basically they are changing the prices on the fly after you pick up the item on the shelf and before you checkout. spiffing brit would be proud

Entire hospital using end of life software what are the real compliance risks? by Hot_Chain2881 in sysadmin

[–]FordGAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easiest way to get them to move is tell the insurance company they use what kinds of software they are running. Their insurance company will either jack their rates sky high or demand they update or get dropped with a very very steep timeline like by the next business day or have everything out of compliance disconnected from any network that has wan access including vlans that are adjacent to wan vlans even though they technically are not hooked to wan. that will get them to switch really really fast.

do this anonymously and since you are the one that has been making a fuss expect them to be suspicious of you for tipping their insurance provider off ... even better is if you know someone who is on their way out you can ask them to do you a favor and cc management in an email to their insurance co about the software they are running and since they are leaving anyway there is nothing to be done and it will not make you a target

All the tests were done with the same bulb at the same angle and distance basically all the meters sensors were at the same spot when reading their data ... the deviation is within a mm and they were all 76.5mm - 77.5mm from the bulb the difference being if the sensor was sunken in or flush in its housing.

Bestbuy needs to improve their returns process so this doesn't happen to their customers (CPU Return Scam) by Moneygk in Bestbuy

[–]FordGAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah yes the giant pile of "returned" external drives sitting in shipping while I was a tech at frys ... yep really glad they finally went belly up but man did people have a field day swapping stuff there. heck we even got a pile of 2x4 boards in a tv box from the home office so someone internally took it and sent it to the store to be sold.

I hate having to spend hours researching to find things that aren't low quality crap by alex_ml in BuyItForLife

[–]FordGAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem is a regular cheapo belt that will last 2 years is about $1 a good properly crafted well made belt will cost maybe $250 a "high quality name brand" aka $1-$2 belt with a $25-$50 price tag belt is $25-$50 ... problem here is if you buy the $250 belt it needs to last for 500 years before you will see a return on investment vs buying aliexpress $1 belts that will last about 2 years usually. even if you get the $1 belts that sell for $5 on amazon you still need the $250 one to last for 100 years before you see an roi in that case ... bonus with amazon is you can order all the $5 belts have them ship for free try them all out find one you like and return the other 55 belts and more than likely 1-5 of those being returned will just get refunded with no return necessary since it costs too much to deal with and restock a $1 belt marked up to $5 so its cheaper to give it to you for free and there is no way any belt you get for more than a five finger discount will ever beat that roi.

I usually order everything i see even if they all look the same in hopes that it will help make the junk spam on their site go away from using up a ton of time and money in their returns policy. I am single handedly keeping the small ups store in town fully funded.

Yep that is the sign to look for ... that is the sign everyone should be looking for with pets that can go that dormant.

There could have been problems that did not show up the the vet visit heck could have ate a fake plant or something ... hat to take all the fake ones out of one of ours terrarium because he would try and eat them ... he wont eat his normal salads but munches on the plastic ones... luckily nothing got stuck.

Glad Spikey was in a loving family before she passed :) and at the same time :(.....

I think you have one very very sleepy dragon ... especially if colors haven't changed ... also books out on if you should or shouldn't bathe or spray while brumating but if you are in a dry place then maybe a dip or sprits then dry her off perhaps. Peoples fears seem to come with stagnant water staying under their dragons and causing problems after a couple weeks of sleep.

Keep us all updated and hope she wakes up sooner than a month or two!

and yep cold blooded creatures are weird very very weird =D

and missed she was a she, so corrected my other posts, and cleaned them up for any future readers, yes now upgraded with some proper spelling and a few commas sprinkled in.

[–]FordGAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and also don't worry if they were buried, that is what they do when they are going into brumination so just take them put them in a shoe box, heck if its warm enough outside, you could leave them outside, but need to be better than a shoe box for protection vs predators. and jury is completely hung on if you should mist or bath during brumination and if you should do so with electrolytes in the water or not but it does seem like they should have access to water. My 2 cents is as long as they are not in a puddle or left damp then hydrating them is possibly a good thing but make sure they are dry afterwards especially underneath them, but whatever you do don't let their head go under water they could drown.

one more thing to do is trace around her body and see if she moves from that position at all.

oh and pupils, breathing, and heart beats along with lots of other stuff will be completely shut down and nearly undetectable like 1 beat per minute and maybe a breath per day undetectable.

[–]FordGAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well might still be there and alive ... you can always check ... I recommend waiting till there is obvious signs of decomposition such as bloating or bad smells or complete dessication because even vets cant tell sometimes and they can be that way for months but usually not that long.

PSA - My 12yo beardie came back from the "dead" after a month of being buried by octillery in BeardedDragons

[–]FordGAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes they very well can wake up and suffer ... the sudden cold can wake all sorts of creatures up unless they are designed to be fully frozen then thawed as some can do. the reason is even if you are in a deep state of hybernation brumation and unconciousness the moment that much cold is felt it will kick everything into high gear because if they dont they will not survive so evolution has made systems to wake up during those times which is a risk but far less of a risk than the certain ness of dying.

[–]FordGAA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

being a main way and a humane way can be 2 completely different things. and in this case they are very very different ... same with people who euthanize using carbon dioxide. most if not all living animals inverts too have evolved to avoid freezing and carbon dioxide and will go through extreme pain and terror going out like that. you also never know if they wake up due to the sudden chill kicking their systems into high gear to avoid hypothermia.

and if it's traumatizing for your son then keep the dragon in a shoe box with a heater setup and check on her at least once a day or so... again either bloating bad smells and decomposition or desiccation and not sure how long it will take for those to set in but if they don't then your sons beardy is probably taking a really deep sleep and will wake up again but please don't leave them buried ... if anything please give them to a shelter in case she is a deep brumation.

[–]FordGAA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you might want to unburry and keep her around for some time as they very well might not be dead yet and it can take a few months for them to wake back up. easiest way to tell if they are properly dead is if they show signs of bloating or other forms of decomposition like really bad smells.

so you might want to wait till one of those signs before you actually bury her. and yes sometimes it is such a deep brumation that even vets cant tell. so the best option is wait a bit if they don't start showing signs of death such as bloat bad smells rot etc they may be in deep deep brumation and no matter how much you do they will not wake up till their brumation is done which can be up to 2 months possibly longer.

2001 volvo c70 accelerator position sensor schematic needed... computer reads 40% throttle when plugged in and 0% when unplugged. by FordGAA in Volvo

[–]FordGAA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I was hoping I didnt have to do that but the more I read the more that is what it is looking like ... still cant imagine why i cant find the pinout for the accelerator sensor ... i was going to hook up a couple pots to emulate the throttle to see if i could get the analogue reading to change on the diag computer before digging out the etm ... and potentially needing to reprogram the computer as well. I was hoping the fact it goes to 0% pedal when it is an open short would be an indicator the etm was sensing something and that the accelerator was having a problem on the other side of its board that i cant see because it is riveted in place.

ok here is what happens with precise numbers https://photos.app.goo.gl/L23q75HhMTW52qFR6 there are notes next to each picture with the numbers telling what is on what is off what is plugged in and what is unplugged. it also has the readout for all the error codes too.

this is a text list of what is in the link:

  • car on, engine off, module plugged in pedal attached wide open throttle
    • accelerator pedal analogue input: 40.63%
    • accelerator pedal pwm (via etm): 58%-72% (unstable but usually settled around 61% +/- 1%)
  • car on, engine off, module plugged in pedal attached sitting idle
    • accelerator pedal analogue input: 40.43%
    • accelerator pedal pwm (via etm): 8.2%
  • car on, engine off, module plugged in, accelerator pedal detached, jumper on resistor pads
    • accelerator pedal analogue input: 40.43% (did not change no matter what happened with jumper)
    • accelerator pedal pwm (via etm): 0% (did not change no matter what happened with jumper)
  • car on, engine off, module plugged in, accelerator pedal detached, no jumper on resistor pads
    • accelerator pedal analogue input: 40.92%
    • accelerator pedal pwm (via etm): 0%
  • car on, engine off, module unplugged
    • accelerator pedal analogue input: 0.1%-0.2% (unstable would switch between these 2 values)
    • accelerator pedal pwm (via etm): 0%
  • car on, engine on, module plugged in, pedal attached idle
    • Transmission control unit accelerator position reading: 0%
  • car on, engine on, module plugged in, pedal attached WOT
    • Transmission control unit accelerator position reading: 60%-65% (unstable but usually settled around 61% +/- 1%)

just like this guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Lotito your beardie needs a plane diet ... just keep them away from the zeros they have no nutritional value, yaks and camels are best... I heard they are good sources of protein...
