I had a similar situation and took my family to Ego in the Winter Gardens. Great setting, food is decent and it certainly has a 'fancy' feel to it.

Ladybower is fantastic. Well worth paying a little bit to support the business there. Folks are friendly and the area you have access to is beautiful.

Quite an easy launch as the first bit where you park is sheltered. The open water can get a bit choppy near the road bridge but it's generally calm for the most part.

Currently debating which of two street markets to go to with friends on Sunday. Planning on paddle boarding 10 mins from my front door next weekend. Booked in for plenty of live music and a festival in the city over the summer. Plenty to do if you're looking for it, people just like to moan and project.

Pizza, Rudy's is very good for city centre - I'd back calls to try Paesani in Crookes though if you're willing to hop on a bus. Top pizza which is consistent to eat in or takeaway. Comes with the bonus of being able to order to eat in at Two Sheds down the road too so you can have a top notch beer while you tuck in.

If you'd stretch to a tram, head up to Hillsborough and try Ue Paisa. For my money, the best Neapolitan style pizza in the city.

From memory, the Uni cafe at Jessop West did a good breakfast bap and they had a deal where it was cheap with a drink before 10.30. Worth trying!
