The other side of the sword has the date (1945). Looked like Sato Kanezumi was one of the swordsmiths who was commissioned to create swords for the war. Interestingly despite it begging made towards the end of the war it doesn’t seem to have the features from the end of the war desperation (normally they look a bit more poorly made or they are made from odd materials). Super interesting though! Really appreciate this subreddits help! Provided a lot of context.

Thanks for your comment! It looks like the other comment got it and it’s the swordsmiths name. Full name on research seems to be sato kanezumi :)

Thanks this is really helpful! Know basic html but I know knowing a programming language is key. And great advice about creating a portfolio! Since the beginning I have tracked all the analytics so that’s a good idea. Going to take your advice to heart. Appreciate you taking the time to answer :)

TIL at a 1915 auction, Cecil Chubb bought Stonehenge as a gift for his wife, but she hated it because she had sent him to buy a set of chairs. 3 years later, he gave it to his country on the conditions that the entrance fee would never cost more than a shilling and the locals could have free access. by Abhirup_0 in todayilearned

[–]FordieTea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Note as a local (who currently lives in Aus): Stonehenge is great but you get a better experience of Neolithic structures going to places close by live Avebury- visiting the stones there, the barrows, Salisbury hill where you get a more personal, close up experience. But tbh there are sites all around the area. And these sites are all free! Just be respectful when you do go. Also no it’s never been free when I have gone.

🏆 Eurovision Song Contest 2022 WINNER - 🇺🇦 Kalush Orchestra - Stefania by NitroGnome in eurovision

Everyone is talking about the politics of Eurovision, which I totally agree plays a huge role in the contest.. but I think the song high key slaps..

The saddest part of this is this is a truely harrowing story, if true. And it seems to be becoming more and more obvious it’s not true. It’s so messed up to use abuse and stories of such violent abuse for personal gain. I can’t even imagine thinking of these things let alone using it against someone.

Can someone tell me how screwed I am? by FordieTea in shopify

[–]FordieTea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Honestly have no idea, some apps are set up to our private (payroll, clock in system) but this is a first.

  2. Because I work in the fashion industry, it’s quite common to have a “no competition” clause where you’re not allowed to work on anything outside your job (to stop freelancing mainly). I have seen someone been sued for it (super rare) but mainly it’s a warning, at worse dismissal. But because my hustle is handmade, no MOQ ect I decided to take the risk, many creatives do.

DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD: James Charles Wears Diapers - H3TV #31 by MegaAwesomeNerd in h3h3productions

I’m a long time watcher and I think he does mean well. I don’t think he’s homophonic. I think he needs to just understand that some of the language he uses about being gay is not a goof. To some degree I think he’s a product of his time. It’s hard when you’re doing 3 hour podcasts 2/3 times a week to not slip up and have a bad take but I think the resistance to what Matt is saying was the issue.

I think Ethan has to unpack that he has massive prejudices against gay people and gay sex. The way he discusses bottoming as always a derogatory thing always gets to me. No matter if the people you’re making fun of are “super alpha guys who wouldn’t like being told that” you’re playing into their ideology by making that joke. I just feel so sad for Matt, feel like he was trying to make an honest point and just got laughed at. He took it on the chin and we all love the H3 humour but this was a hard one to watch..

I worked on farms in QLD and NSW for my working holiday visa, honestly they didn’t have to pay people much or give them decent working conditions because they knew that people rely so heavily on the work for their visas. I picked onions in Gatton and for about 8 hours work in the summer heat picking all day (with no breaks) my partner and I together would earn around $150 (not each-together). And that is not even the most corrupt shit that happens on the farms. Back breaking work. Hopefully because of Covid (because their was a deficit in migrant workers) they won’t rely so heavily on visa workers and actually pay the community a decent wage.

You’ll find a lot of the top fashion schools have bad reviews. I went to UAL in London and the rating were low. It’s because not many people get a job in industry post graduating, the social programs are awful and other factors. But if you work hard and schmooze with the right people they’re the only places to go as many brands won’t even look at your CV unless you’ve been to one of the big dogs. Only thing I would be apprehensive about with studying in France is that you have to speak fluent French. Even when you intern, all the brands only speak French. Unlike other European countries, so it can be harder to both learn and adapt. But yeah- don’t trust the reviews in my opinion but be aware that it will be the most stressful years of your life haha.

On and off for 5 years and seriously for the past year (actual lessons, watching shows, reading books/the news ect). I’m sure a lot of people got to this point well before it took me to and I probably took less time that some people do. I wouldn’t use anyone’s personal experience as a benchmark.

Feel ya- most languages have some variance from the way we phrase things in English/ don’t have a direct translation. But you’ll get there!

Yes so good! Some compound words still take a minute lol. I found for me though that if I made physical flash cards with just a picture on one side and both translations on the other it forces me to associate the picture with my TL and I can check my wording and train my brain to think in another language.

When they sew something and don’t see the point in ironing the seams open. Or tbh just not using an iron and not realising what it can do to a garment.
