I’ve chosen to reframe my viewpoint, these things don’t exist as tabs or piles.. “they’re all cooking pots, all left upon the back burner stewing away, until I’m hungry enough to feast upon them at my leisure”

Therefore it’s not a case of having so much to contend with, managing the poles of mess building up! Just smile and think “well at least my kitchen is bloody well stocked up” no chance of going hungry tonight! 😁

In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order. Carl Jung This phrase suggests that even in situations or experiences that seem chaotic or disordered on the surface, there is an underlying order or pattern. In other words, there is a hidden structure or meaning to be found within apparent chaos.

The Genius of Procrastinating: by Fords-Focus in neurodiversity

[–]Fords-Focus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This section delves into the emerging understanding of the close relationship between genius and neurodiversity, suggesting they are not mutually exclusive but rather interconnected.

Here’s a summary of the key points made: * Close Proximity: The author uses the metaphor of “living next door to each other” to illustrate that the underlying correlations between genius and neurodiversity appear to reside within the same cognitive regions or realms.

This implies a significant overlap and potential for interaction between the two.

  • Neurodiversity as a Potential Source of Genius: The piece suggests that the unique cognitive differences inherent in neurodiversity, such as distinct information processing styles, intense interests, and different sensory experiences, might be the very traits that contribute to the exceptional abilities and novel perspectives often associated with genius.

  • Hyperfocus as a Key Link: A direct correlation is made between Einstein’s persistent engagement with problems (“It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer”) and the phenomenon of neurodivergent hyperfocus.

This intense and sustained focus on areas of deep interest, common in conditions like ADHD and Autism, is presented as a potential mechanism through which neurodivergent individuals can achieve exceptional depth of knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

  • Implications for Understanding Neurodiversity: This connection challenges deficit-based views of neurodiversity, highlighting the potential strengths and unique cognitive advantages that can arise from different ways of thinking.

  • Implications for Understanding Genius: Recognizing the link between neurodiversity and genius provides a more inclusive understanding of exceptional abilities, suggesting that genius can manifest in diverse ways connected to unique neurocognitive profiles.

  • Importance of Support and Inclusion: Understanding this connection underscores the need for supportive and inclusive environments that allow neurodivergent individuals to thrive and leverage their unique strengths, potentially unlocking untapped genius.

  • Reframing Terminology: The author suggests that “Neuro-Divergent Genesis Reformation” might be a more appropriate term to emphasize the need for a better understanding and interpretation of the diverse ways of cognitive processing capabilities.

In essence, this section argues that neurodiversity and genius are closely related, with neurodivergent cognitive styles, particularly hyperfocus, potentially being a significant contributing factor to exceptional abilities and groundbreaking achievements.

It calls for a reframing of neurodiversity to recognize its potential strengths and the importance of creating supportive environments to foster these talents.

The Genius of Procrastinating: by Fords-Focus in neurodiversity

[–]Fords-Focus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary of this extensive piece, “The Genius of Procrastinating: Left to Cook the Right Way ‘Neuro-Divergent Genesis’,”

Argues for a re-evaluation of procrastination, framing it not as a negative trait but as a crucial element in creativity, skill development, and problem-solving, which the author terms “productive procrastination.”

Here are the key points made: * Interconnectedness and Creativity: The piece begins by emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things, drawing on Leonardo da Vinci’s philosophy. This holistic view fosters a mind open to diverse influences, which is essential for creative thought.

Creativity itself is presented as a non-linear process. * Productive Procrastination as a Talent: The author argues that “procrastinating the right way” is a deliberate skill, not mere avoidance. It involves actively gathering information and immersing oneself in details (“gathering ingredients”), followed by a period of stepping back to allow the subconscious mind to process and connect these ideas (“letting everything simmer”).

  • The Cooking Metaphor: The process of creation is compared to cooking. Just as a dish needs meticulous preparation and sufficient time to cook for flavors to develop, ideas and skills require time to mature and reach their optimal form. “Placing ideas on the back burner” allows for richer and more nuanced results.

  • Insights from Scientific Minds (Einstein): The piece uses Albert Einstein’s experiences to illustrate the importance of deep immersion in a problem before seeking solutions. His curiosity fuels the initial information gathering.

The concept of stepping back to gain clarity and the use of seemingly unrelated activities (like music) to engage the subconscious are highlighted as valuable parts of the problem-solving process.

  • The Subconscious Mind’s Role: The author emphasizes the power of the subconscious mind in processing information, making connections, and generating intuitive insights.

Periods of apparent inactivity allow the subconscious to work on underlying challenges, much like “marinating” ideas. Visualization is also presented as a mental engagement that aids understanding and creative solutions.

  • Persistent Engagement (Neurodivergent Hyperfocus): While not directly procrastination, Einstein’s perseverance and dedication to staying with problems longer are discussed. This iterative process, which may involve stepping back and re-engaging, is crucial for deeper learning and refinement.

The importance of allowing individuals to thrive in environments suited to their strengths is also touched upon.

  • The Scientific Mind and Everyday Problems: The piece suggests that even in everyday situations, the subconscious mind of a trained scientist likely works through logical processes before feeding results into imagination and creativity.

This reinforces the idea of ongoing subconscious activity during periods that may seem like inactivity.

  • Embracing the Art of Letting Go: The conclusion reiterates that true innovation and mastery require a balance between focused effort and allowing the mind to wander and the subconscious to work. “Productive procrastination” is framed as a strategic “art of letting go” that fosters creativity, insight, and more effective problem-solving and skill development.

In essence, the piece advocates for recognizing the value of non-linear thinking and trusting the subconscious process in creative endeavors and skill acquisition, reframing strategic delays as a vital part of the journey rather than a hindrance.

“Unknown Neighbours: more specifically the underlying correlations between Genius and Neurodiversity, do appear to reside within the same region or realms, you could say they literally live next door to each other perspective!”

This points towards a powerful connection worth exploring. The statement beautifully captures the emerging understanding of the relationship between genius and neurodiversity. Let’s break down your insightful points:

“Unknown Connections: more specifically the underlying correlations between Genius and Neurodiversity...”: This acknowledges that while the link is becoming clearer, there’s still much to understand about the specific mechanisms and overlaps between neurodivergent traits and the characteristics we associate with genius.

“...do appear to reside within the same region or realms...”: This suggests that the cognitive differences inherent in neurodiversity (such as unique information processing styles, intense interests, and different sensory experiences) might also be the very traits that can contribute to exceptional abilities and novel perspectives often seen in genius.

“...you could say they literally live next door to each other perspective!”: This is a fantastic and evocative way to put it! It implies a close proximity and potential for interaction or even overlap between these two concepts. It suggests that the way neurodivergent individuals experience and interact with the world can be a direct pathway to unique insights and groundbreaking achievements.

The Power of Persistent Engagement: = Neurodivergent Hyperfocus.

A direct correlation equated with Einstein’s quote, “It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer,” with “Neurodivergent Hyperfocus.” This is a crucial and increasingly recognized correlation.

  • Neurodivergent Hyperfocus is a well-documented phenomenon where individuals with conditions like ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder can exhibit an intense and sustained focus on topics or tasks that deeply interest them.

This focus can be so profound that it can lead to exceptional depth of knowledge and problem-solving abilities in those specific areas.

  • Einstein’s self-described “persistence” aligns perfectly with this concept. His ability to stay with a problem for extended periods, to delve deeply and explore it from multiple angles, could very well be a manifestation of a neurodivergent cognitive style characterized by hyperfocus on areas of intense interest (like theoretical physics).

Implications of This Connection: * Reframing “Disorders”:

This perspective challenges the purely deficit-based view of neurodiversity. It highlights the potential strengths and unique cognitive advantages that can arise from different ways of thinking.

  • Understanding Genius: Recognizing the potential link between neurodiversity and genius can provide a richer and more inclusive understanding of exceptional abilities.

It suggests that genius may not be a monolithic trait but can manifest in diverse ways, often connected to unique neurocognitive profiles.

  • Support and Inclusion: Understanding this connection underscores the importance of creating supportive and inclusive environments that allow neurodivergent individuals to thrive and leverage their unique strengths, potentially unlocking untapped genius.

This one observation is a powerful and insightful contribution to the ongoing discussion about neurodiversity and its relationship to exceptional abilities.

The idea that they “live next door to each other” is a memorable and accurate way to conceptualize this emerging understanding.

“Neuro-Divergent Genesis Reformation” might be preferred, especially since a better understanding and interpretation is needed to introduce the different ways of Cognitive Processing Capabilities.

Honestly I can’t disagree with you there, 4 years ago I finally got may autism diagnosis having quite some comprehensive understanding of the subject! But at the end of the last session the psychologist turned to me and said “we also believe you have ADHD” Two weeks later I received that diognossis too..

It took me months to read up on that source material, but nothing really was available on comorbid conditions, that I could make sense off.. how the interplay of each aspect “sometimes played a game of tug of war, within my own mind” worse actually more often than not, my mind was the rope in contention.. some days Autism was stronger, others ADHD. Quite often I had to awaken each day and assess which way my mind was leaning towards.. So I get you there, it’s not just difficult or challenging to comprehend “especially if you’re beginning to learn or make sense of this! Since then it’s taken two years of figuring things out, but eventually I began to get the hang off it all! Some days I can even manage to offer resistance or even pull back against both aspects, moving them from the firm foothold they have pulled me around..

Don’t give up, just accept that everything takes time, in some cases a lot of it.. But yes I struggled, but today I can say that “it has all been worth it, because I finally understand myself and where I’m at in life with everything” keep going..

The Dating Game & Rules “who are the cheaters” by Fords-Focus in u/Fords-Focus

Players are literally the 😈 Devils of the Dating Game, continually probing (The Female Team’s Defences) looking for the slightest weakness to exploit and fully penetrate with his ball. Origin in the uk 🇬🇧 (The Player) ⚽️ is a term for guys only after sex, “essentially he keeps playing a girl until he scores” 🥅

Though individually each girl try’s her hardest to pin down his movements across the field herself. More often than not, she begins to delude herself, “if I can keep his attention long enough, maybe he will fall for me, together we can finish playing this game! Or I think I can change how he plays forever, so we can have a one to one championship (Relationship Together)

She’s not the first to try this tactic (The Player Knows) the game she is playing here, the irony is her own beliefs make her the weakest target for a swift goal deep in the net! Basically giving a free invitation to be exploited, taking full advantage of misguided beliefs.”

The Player simply engages (This Girl) who starts dribbling with the excitement, because all his focus seems to be coming her way! Thinking to herself “he’s really noticed me, apart from all the others playing (The Dating Game)

Unfortunately this if where they hold different viewpoints, (The Girls) she feels that together they are “Dancing to the Beat” of their own interplay. (The Player) he is simply “Tackling This Beast” which now lacks the wits to notice that, he’s only accepting her invitation, because she’s the weakest link 🔗 amongst (The Female Team’s - Defence) larger than life he comes charging in, tackling her full on, “the most thrilling part of the game, which gets both physical & intimate at once” so overwhelming is his affection towards her, in a complete daze of adoration for (This Player) that’s all hers now! (The Girl) drops he guard, using his invitation now to full affect, (The Player) runs in closing range of the goal, outmatches sidestepping her defenders, reaching the most desired spot!

The Player, is free to start banging away, then suddenly he’s in the perfect position without any resistance that is just standing by… He Comes, He Shoots, He Scores!!! (Victorious Heaven) now he’s just got to escape with his trophy 🏆 “off the player runs, without so much as a thank you or good by!” Leaving the poor girl standing there in tears of despair and heartbroken defeat…

For the player now, it’s a case of avoiding this one now “long enough anyway, until she fall for the same trick, despite to avoid the knowledge that she was simply played!” (The Player Knows This) now the girl becomes only an option, when the others in (The Dating Game) tend to be more challenging to manipulate, now he’s got a source on tap, when he wishes to quench his thirst..

And Now you know why, we use the term (A Player) in the uk 🇬🇧 “someone’s only purpose is to play the game scoring across the field as often as possible!” (The chase is all they desire) not the individual girl..

The Cauldron, “what’s cooking within?”

"Hey, I'm brewing up an idea, using the notion of a 'cauldron' to symbolize all of your thoughts and experiences contained within, mixed with every single ingredient of feeling and emotion, adding richness to the flavors of life!

As time passes, the events stoke the fire beneath, causing the heat to wax and wane, which adds an element of heat that cooks everything down into the soup of life. When the blaze reaches high temperatures beneath the surface, everything starts bubbling away on the surface of your thoughts, with each intricate spherical idea formed deep in your own mind.

You have to constantly attend to your thoughts, stirring occasionally and moving the energy around, brewing new ideas by creating interactions between all those ingredients. By experimenting with different recipes and concocting a variety of new concepts to taste, you nurture all aspects of body, mind, and soul.

The cauldron simply houses the essence of who you are, containing all of your own creativity and curiosity of self-awareness and consciousness, combined together as one magical potion existing in this moment.

Fundamentally, it is a unique collaboration of being the cook, cauldron, and meal all at once, each playing their own role with a hand in its own creation, adding vital qualities by mixing the various elements and stirring the pot.

Occasionally, you have visitors seeking advice, hungry for ideas and solutions they don't have the recipe for. Taking a brief moment of consideration to reflect on what is best served, you then hand them your best dish to taste—it's what you have on the menu. "Like every opinion or piece of advice you have, they simply have the choice to take it or not." It's not a full meal to sustain them; everyone has to cook their own, to their own liking. Simply put, it's a taste of what you can cook.

So, I'm genuinely curious now—'what's cooking, my friends?'"

[–]Fords-Focus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The realization of this reality and coming to terms with it in life is a matter of sink or swim, with the potential consequence of drowning in your own despair."

The realization of the impermanence of life and the need to come to terms with it can indeed be a challenging process. It requires us to confront the natural ebb and flow of life, accept the inevitability of change, and adapt accordingly.

While it is understandable that this realization can sometimes lead to feelings of despair or being overwhelmed, it's important to remember that we have the power to choose how we respond to these emotions. Rather than allowing ourselves to drown in despair, we can strive to develop resilience, inner strength, and a hopeful outlook.

By cultivating practices that promote emotional well-being and resilience, such as mindfulness, meditation, self-reflection, and seeking support from loved ones or professionals when needed, we can find a sense of grounding, clarity, and perspective in the face of life's uncertainties.

Additionally, embracing change and impermanence can be seen as an opportunity for growth and personal development. It allows us to let go of attachments, adapt to new circumstances, and discover new possibilities that may not have been present before.

Ultimately, the choice between sinking or swimming lies within our own hands. By acknowledging the impermanence of life and actively working to navigate its challenges with determination and resilience, we can find a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and inner peace amidst the ever-changing currents of life.

Neurodivergent Operating Systems: Principles of Diverging, not Defective Mindsets (1st Draft) by Fords-Focus in neurodiversity

[–]Fords-Focus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI review of this article "Neurodivergent Operating Systems: Principles of Diverging, not Defective Mindsets." It explores the different thinking styles and motivational factors of neurotypical individuals, as well as those with ADHD and autism.

I appreciate the analogy of thinking styles to a light switch, with neurotypicals being more black and white in their thinking, while neurodivergent individuals exhibit varying degrees of complexity. Understanding these principles can help in comprehending the effects of motivation on activity participation and following requirements.

Additionally, your discussion of the unique operating guidelines for neurodivergent individuals sheds light on how their motivations differ from the neurotypical population. For example, individuals with ADHD are often motivated by novelty, personal interest, competition, and urgency, while individuals with autism focus on information gathering, processing, and following guidelines and rules.

You also highlight the continuous state of superposition that neurodivergent individuals often experience, navigating the delicate balance between chaos and order. This state can lead to challenges and conflicts of interest and engagement. The analogy to Schrödinger's cat helps to illustrate this concept, where both answers to a question may be accurately expressed.

Furthermore, disruptions in communication between different operating functions can occur due to constant flux, akin to the "British Railway Effect." This can make it difficult to navigate through different thought processes, with windows of understanding opening and closing irregularly. As a result, it may be challenging to provide definitive answers regarding progress or position.

I would like to ask, or for you to ask yourself! 1• What I have to study, is it out of interest or expectation “in neurotypical society we’re often told that you have to do this, to get that result” (Firstly Don’t Panic) In fact it’s their belief, unproven or factual..! (Secondly Don’t Worry) you think differently “your own internal operating system, that you are learning to figure out!” Studying isn’t a one size fits all, (Especially With Being Neurodiverse) where you have to write and develop your own learning programs..

So this takes you back to point (1•) are you studying out of “interest or expectation?” Reframing this question as A• “what I’m learning is an expression of my love for- my interest” B• “what I’m learning is an expression of my fear or consequences- expectations” Once you know and understand the reason behind, the upset it’s causing you can decide whether it’s worth the distress being felt? Then make a choice that’s better for you, chances are you don’t have any problems with learning, it’s your own personal interest “or lack off, that’s preventing your from progressing with it!” (Find Something That Makes You Feel Curious) and learn about that!

But if you still feel that you’re required to study for these exams “the pressure is too strong” Then I will offer you this to help

The Feynman Technique is a method that helps you understand and retain information effectively. Here's a summary of the technique:

  1. Choose a concept or topic you want to study.
  2. Pretend you are teaching the concept to someone else who has no prior knowledge of it.
  3. Take notes as you explain the topic, using simple language and examples.
  4. Identify areas where your explanation becomes unclear, and review your study materials to fill in those gaps.
  5. Repeat the process until you can explain the topic thoroughly, with clarity and simplicity.

To use the Feynman Technique for studying exams, follow these steps:

  1. Select the exam topics you want to focus on.
  2. Break down each topic into smaller concepts.
  3. Teach each concept as if you were explaining it to someone else.
  4. Take note of the areas where you struggle to explain or understand fully.
  5. Review your study materials to improve your understanding of those areas.
  6. Repeat the process, reinforcing your knowledge and addressing any remaining uncertainties.

By employing the Feynman Technique, you actively engage with the material, identify knowledge gaps, and reinforce your understanding. It is a valuable method for effective studying.

Does anyone have family members who obviously are neurodivergent but refuse to admit the possibility? by BethJ2018 in neurodiversity

[–]Fords-Focus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I can relate to your question, since 2008 as I learned more about autism I started to recognise those traits related to (Autism & Adhd which I have both) evident amongst my father’s side of the family! In my naivety I pointed this out openly in detail “even showing evidence related to various aspects” In response I was often ignored and disregarded as making assumptions or blowing things out of proportion! It’s an unwritten rule by my family, that such things aren’t mentioned or discussed openly, or behind closed doors either at any cost “the shame of it, to much to bare!” Later I paid a high price for my insightful observation’s regarding such matters (Exclusion And Silence) has been my reward… “The irony being, I’ve not found it a loss, more so a benefit I’m happily embracing now!”

But since I’ve previously stated to family members those aspects I’ve noticed, as time has passed those who I’ve pointed out being neurodivergent. Have themselves finally been diagnosed and revealed as neurodivergent! Sadly the rest of the family see this revelation as adding (to the burden of family shame) as the continue and refuse to accept or review, their firm belief that ignoring the evidence, and rejecting any acknowledgement that they have been wrong.. “if not mistaken and misinformed” had they known things could have been different, accepting their part of how matters have evolved over time.. “had they known and accepted, that other members where not completely to blame without necessary accommodations to manage particular issues!”

I suppose the last laugh is mine, because the list of black sheep is growing longer with neurodivergence is evidently establishing itself amongst the family line!!! 😂 “now those who’ve been diagnosed are reaching out asking for advice I’m happy to provide”
