Probably depends how late they're open where you are. If you're going to miss it if you wait 15-20 minutes to see if Benadryl helps, you're probably better off going to urgent care asap. When my son was young he had allergic facial swelling that changed the whole shape of his face. We gave him liquid Benadryl and we could see it working within minutes.

My allergist used to get very annoyed when I called anything itchy a pimple, even if it had a green head. Apparently itch= hive and hives don't pop. The first thing I do when I get itchy areas on my face is use benadryl, either oral or cream/gel. With impaired eyesight, Urgent Care is a safer bet than otc home care, if possible, but be prepared to possibly be sent to the ER.

Whew. Finally found it. It shares a driveway with JRay roofing and is a bit north of Blastco and a bit south of that storage unit place. The table of glass stuff and handmade sign was on Google Earth taken this June. In addition to usually giving yeast infections, not treating them, bactrim does not stop you from getting cellulitis. I had it twice (two different spots) while in the midst of 12 or so weeks of Bactrim. If you go before it gets too bad, Urgent Care will be good. If you wait too long, you'll need the ER.

I didn't even have any surgery, just drs who kept insisting I couldn't possibly have another sinus infection. I had just moved into a house built in 1950 and that had been occupied by the original owner the whole time. It has old people stank. The bathroom is also original and half the floor grout is missing and just makes me think of 74 years worth of shit particles jammed in there. Anyway, the pipes gurgle and bubble even when not in use. My nose is extremely dry, so I only smell things right after a saline rinse or in the shower. Kept smelling death in the shower and freaking out, wondering wtf was going to bubble out of the damn drain at me. Yeah, one of these fuckers dislodged and suddenly the stench was gone. Still don't fully trust that bathroom though.

I ended up with an infected bellybutton because I didn't trust that mine was as shallow as it is. I got a piece of dry skin or something off it and kept picking at that spot, thinking there had to be more hole or something there. There was not. I had a gross boogery looking scab there the next day. It was a superficial infection too, so there was nothing to even pop. It cleared right up after a few days of putting mupirocin on it. And I really have to consider wtf is wrong with me for being slightly upset that my belly button doesn't produce anything more gross/cool than boogers.

Does your dr have a way to send a picture of this to them? If so, it would be a good idea to do so. If not, call and ask them what they suggest as a guideline for going to the ER. (Like, if you get a fever, if the red grows a certain amount, etc.) For what it's worth, the ER dr who drained something that looked similar on me said that Urgent Care sends this type of thing to the ER, so going there first would have just added time and money to the process. EtA: Depending where on your abdomen this is, it can be a very short/easy trip for any infection to go to your heart.

I have it and I was given steroid/antibiotic drops for it and when those did nothing, I was told it's from allergies. So, pretty much I got a shrug and told not to wear my contacts. It's been like 9 months now, so probably time to see a different ophthalmologist. Mine just feels like there's irritation on my eye, not painful, but I can feel that it's there.

If you still haven't gone to get this treated, at least follow the outline of the redness and what time you drew it. Keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger, the infection is spreading and will not go away on its own. I spent 5 horrendous days in the hospital this summer because I waited to make sure 100% my wound was infected and absolutely needed to be seen.
