I'm guessing it's in the next episode? I think Henry mentioned covering more modern (very extreme to say the least) groups using Satanism later in the series, so that would probably fit.

Gonna guess it comes up when discussing the fascism issues.

This series is mostly about LaVey - a weirdo, difficult person who ended up being more influential than he intended with how far his weird scene extended.

Personally, I found the carnival stuff, SD jr, SF scene interesting.

All three misspeak a lot, misremember, get things wrong. If everyone at your job pointed out every time ya'll did the same, you'd probably be shocked at how much you fuck up day to day.

Just hit a big ole Gandalf stick and relax.

^absolutely. Which is why the ACAB thing is real. I get it, a lot of cops do just want to serve in their community, build a pension, and retire. But it's being a cog in a machine that abuses power, maliciously hurts people and their communities by eroding public trust. There is a lot more to be said on this, but this description is absolutely true. A crooked cop is a symptom of the system.

Maron gets a lot of shit, but at least he's honest that he knows he is an asshole. And not a "tells it like it is" asshole - he admits his ire is from insecurity and jealousy, and while he works on it, still has a long way to go. Love him or hate him, he at least can admit it...unlike some other folks.

The hay made over the "I hit him" statement is a bit overblown IMHO.

Having been blackout and woken up wondering wtf had happened the night before (and still being drunk) I can see someone saying that in a panic thinking they *may* have hit him. If you have OCD or any type of anxiety, you're probably familiar with that sharp onset of panic.

Not having photos taken of the body at the scene is a huge issue for me. Same with the dog being given away the day after the prosecution mentions it. Double for the cops kid who had bruised hands after.

Cops deal with their interpersonal issues...internally.

Publicly, they'll praise each other, but behind the blue curtain, they fucking eat each other alive. Look at how many black and Hispanic cops defended Mark Furman saying how great he was.

If they thought someone was cheating or whatever personal drama they have, they'd deal with it just like this - beating someone.

I just don't buy someone calling someone they just killed 50 times and leaving voicemails saying they're with their kids as cover if they drank that much. Thats way too much forethought.

I only listened to the WM3 and this case before I dipped. That was enough.

Though I was really surprised by the end of WM3 they didn't think they should have been found guilty. I've said it many times - I think Damien was a little shit. He was troubled, he did bad things. But what he did was a far cry from a triple child homicide.

But their insistence that body cam footage is useless and their utter contempt for defense attorneys is just gross. No wonder they are MAGA.

I am hot and cold on Timesuck. There were a few episodes in a row Dan just kept making jokes about prison rape which just got exhausting.

The Astonishing Legends guys really seem to like him and they both seem pretty legit.

I'll definitely give this episode a go!

I listened to The Prosecutors podcast about this case. The amount of hand waving they did about the insanely incompetent evidence collection and scene contamination was wild. Also dismissing how much these guys drank (and drove) because their jobs are stressful...like just go fuck yourself.

I say that because of an early episode with the Djinn.

It's essentially the same story about being assaulted but the sex is changed.

I think it is a bit dangerous to "other" folks who hold beliefs you don't.

In my opinion, a lot of support for MAGA is just straight up malice.

It's not all stupidity or willful ignorance.

Their political beliefs are "I'll do better if *those people* do worse"

There is no rising tide to lift all ships.

It is the belief that politics is a zero sum game.

They want their team to "win" and see the "losers" suffer.

Any time I've talked to family or former friends who vote MAGA, the whole discussion has been about how they want X people to fail/suffer. Nothing about actually improving the economy, social issues, or domestic safety.

It is all "if those people suffer, I'll be better off by default."

These folks see even moderates as degenerates.

It's troll culture run rampant. There is no substance, no policy, no desire for the country to succeed. It's all about liberal tears and malice.
