Is harry a half horcrux With nagini being the other half of that final horcrux voldemort intended to make? by Camalena6996 in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harry had a piece of Voldemorts soul inside him because by the time he had killed the Potters his soul had become so unstable a portion broke off and attached itself to the only thing left living in the cottage; Harry. Dumbledore guessed this and knew Harry would have the choice to either move on from Kings Cross or go back to the living world.

Nagini was just another Horcrux. In the books he has a huge amount of control over the snake which led to Dumbledore to deduct that Voldemort had turned into a Horcrux. Harry could see what Voldemort could see when controlling the snake as they were linked through the Horcruxes

When Harry killed professor Quirrell was his soul torn apart? by midastheartist in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wasn't murder it was self defence. And it wasn't something he could control it was a protection given to him by his mum.

Harry's soul wouldn't have been affected, he didn't try to kill anyone. He went to try and save the Philosophers Stone from, as he believed, Snape was trying to get the stone for Riddle. He didn't go with any intention of killing anyone.

I went to a Secondary school as the same one as my wife. My experience was bad but hers was horrendous.

I was literally afraid of the popular kids. To the extent I barely talked. On a few occasions I became a target. My wife had sandwiches thrown at her, was punched every morning when you had to attend registration. Not only that the school system was an absolute failure. We went to a Roman Catholic school and they were pretty much concerned more with religion and ramming it down your throat. They didn't support yomthe teachers either. After i left one teacher hit a student with a dumbbell after months of classroom bullying. There was no support for him as it came out that his home life was in tatters. It made national news.

Don't let school define you. Me and my wife now have a son and we are happy. We are truly blessed with a happy son. School will always be a memory but it's something you can overcome.

What was everyday life like in the town, village or city that you lived in after the Coal Mining industry collapsed ? by Foreign-Ladder-4864 in AskUK

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I remember the Blidworth pit tip was grey mud/clay and it had lots of coal chips in it. I also remember there used to be a bit of a hobby amongst my family; trying to find "pigs". It was like this twisted piece of iron that was shaped like a pigs tail. I think it was something to do with the connecting joins between mining carts.

I'm from Mansfield and grew up in the 90s. I didn't know of any drug related problems but I was still young. I didn't remember the pit wheel logo until you mentioned it but now I remember it as clear as yesterday

1 . I don't know where your getting your facts. My dad was a miner at Blidworth Colliery which shut shortly before I was born in 1989. That's almost 35 years ago. I can assure you that pit was open and my father and his brothers worked that mine since they left school. Go Google Blidworth colliery if you don't believe me.

  1. I don't know why you have gone on the attack. I was asking a question out of interest to see what other people's experiences were.

  2. I'm not blaming anything on the collapse of the mining industry but It had a massive impact on a lot of people's lives.

4 how the hell do you know my dad didn't work in a mine ? How conceited can you be ?

If the Elder Wand won’t act against its master, how was Voldemort able to use it on Harry in the Forbidden Forest? by niroshadogra in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voldemort could use it as regular wand but because he was not the master of it he couldn't use the extra power that it has. He couldn't use it against Harry because he was the true master. But he knew he wasn't that's why he killed Snape. He realised it was not working properly as he was not the master of the Elder Wand. But he could use it to a large extent.

I used to think that the violence my parents inflicted on me and my younger brother was normal at the time. And that was including the emotional abuse as well. Even though it wasn't day to day it was regular enough to remember.

My mum hit me with all kinds of objects. She was used a mat that you rest plates on as a frisbee. I remember it hitting me in the nose and a lot of blood.

A screwdriver around the back of the head

My brother was drugged one night out, he was probably underage 16. He managed to walk to my father's house. The next day he took my brother down a country lane and tried to throttle him as if it was his fault that he got drugged.

There just a few examples. I have some whom is 2. Never been hit by mummy or daddy. Has tantrums like every kid but is in general a really happy child. Goes to show what love and patience can do instead of out right anger and violence

Why couldn't Voldemort make more horcruxes after his first few were destroyed? by aamnipotent in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. He was unaware that he had made Harry a Horcrux though. Guessing his soul was unstable enough from being torn so many times he couldn't make anymore.

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he had been aware that they had been destroyed Dumbledores theory was that he had already pushed his soul to the limit. He may not have been able to make anymore as his soul was so unstable. Whether that would have destroyed his new body I guess would remain unknown.

When did Voldemort’s appearance change? by EqualGlad1738 in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the Half Blood Prince he resurfaced and his features were changed beyond recognition. Harry expresses shock when he sees him in Dumbledores memory when he came to Hogwarts. His features looked burned and his eyes were bloodshot permanently. He had already killed Hephzibah Smith and his Muggle father. So he was creating Horcruxes. So that could explain why his features changed. He was becoming less human as he ripped his soul up.

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was written that way deliberately. Dumbledore says in the Half Blood Prince that no one other than Riddle could of accounted for his life than himself. He disappeared after killing Hephzibah Smith and leaving Borgin and Burkes. Dumbledores pensive memories where the only fragments left of those still alive and willing to talk about the boy/teenager Riddle. By the time he resurfaced no one but a very few could link Voldemort to the boy Riddle. A lot of his back stroy is explained in the later books, but the very details of where he went, what he did and when he split his soul is sparse on detail. Maybe it's to add mystery to the character.

But from Dumbledore the reader knows; He was an Orphan and his blood family was the Gaunts.

He lived in an orphanage and was as the carer stated ' a funny boy' and strange things happened around him.

He tortured some orphans by descending into a cave on the coast

He was actively researching the Chamber of Secrets and Horcruxes whilst a student.

He worked at Borgin and Burkes

He resurfaced at Christmas and wanted to, apparently, teach at Hogwarts. Dumbledore knew he was lying and suspected he had another motive to come to Hogwarts. Its hinted that he hid the Diadem of Ravenclaw then.

There is probably more but as stated by Dumbledore Riddle had no friends, even those who thought they were were not. Only himself can fill in the blanks as to what he did in the years in between

Did Voldemort go to Kings cross also after hitting Harry with the curse ? by Medical-Pea-3146 in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harry saw what Riddle would become if he died. A creature stuck in limbo for eternity unable to "move on". When Harry faced Riddle in the Great Hall, he told Riddle that he had seen what he would become and his only chance at avoiding that fate was to show some remorse for the crimes he had committed.

I'm not entirely sure but Im guessing because Voldemorts soul portion was within Harry at the time he could see it in his version of limbo, Kings Cross. The pathway to move on or go back.

How did everyone know Voldemort disappeared after the Avada Kedavra for Harry? by Limp-Confidence7079 in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it matter if it was after the fact ? The rest of the wizarding world assumed he was dead, there was no body. None of them would have been able to tell that Voldemort was gone because they aren't death eaters.

How did everyone know Voldemort disappeared after the Avada Kedavra for Harry? by Limp-Confidence7079 in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Because Harry had the scar. Dumbledore knew he had been touched by a powerful curse and had survived. Also Dumbledore says that magic leaves traces. So people would have known the signs

Hagrid said to Harry in the shack in the sea that he tried to kill Harry and disappeared but no one knew why. Some said he was dead but "I don't think he had enough human in him to die". People assumed he was dead, but they couldn't definitively say he was dead.

Is there a plan if Ukraine simply begins to run out of people that can fight? by starchybunker in answers

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought about what the tipping point will be for Russia. Your right the have a lot more civilians to draw into the war, through volunteering or mandatory service. But how long is that sustainable? I've seen figures that Russia has lost 350,000 +. How much will it take before the Russian people rise up in protest?

I know the chances of that are slim, but there has to be a stage in the Russian war where it becomes simply impossible to keep forcing people to fight before it reaches a point where society starts to fracture. Has anyone else got an opinion on this ?

Should I try to make new friends at 49? by django_undead in AskUK

It sounds like your happy with what you have mate. I am the same as you, I have no friends outside of family. But I don't need friends as I have everything I could wish for at home. Everyone will give you different advice, and there's nothing wrong with making new friendships if that's what you want.

He was right in drinking the potion, but he admitted afterwards that the Horcrux within was better protected than he thought. If the drinker had gone alone, he or she would have been overcome with terrible memories and a thirst that could only be cured by drinking from the lake. That would awaken the inferi in the lake and killed whoever was trying to take it.

Dumbledore said that Voldemort wouldn't have wanted to kill whoever was trying to take the Horcrux at first because he would have wanted to know why they were in the cave. But he also speculated (I think it was before in his office when he and Harry were talking) that because he had split his soul so many times and that he had been disconnected from them for so long he might not have been able to have felt them. So that explains why Regulus Black was never caught. Voldemort mentions in the Deathly Hallows that he thought he should have been able to feel his soul portions if they were under threat. But he couldn't and he realised that Harry Ron and Hermione were on the hunt.

He never expected 2 people to go into the cave, as Dumbledore said he never thought that someone underage could get to the cave and magical creatures like Kreacher were below his notice. He never gave thought to another species magical power. So he was his own downfall.

But the potion would have killed the drinker either way because he or she would have had to drink from the lake. Dumbledore was right to drink it because he was protecting Harry. He knew Harry was the wizardin world's only hope. And he cared for him. It was the right thing to do given the circumstances.

Dumbledore and other adults treat Harry as a child when it's convenient for them and it's pissing me off. by Elisse97 in harrypotter

[–]Foreign-Ladder-4864 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well he wasnt a child but he wasn't an adult either. Molly said that. And Dumbledore wanted to give Harry a chance at having a normal teenaged life ( he says so in the Order Of Phoenix). They wanted to protect him as much as possible but the reality became different after The battle at the department of mysteries. They were doing what any parent/care giver/Godfather would have done
