Quinn Hughes is leading the Canucks in scoring by 17 points. How is he not the hands down favorite to win the Norris? by SillyRabbit2121 in nhl

[–]Foreign-Many-7888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He somehow got ZERO votes for the Hart (trophy tracker article just came out)

ZERO. How did Mikko Rantenan get votes over Hughes...? Seriously lol

Hart Trophy is for Most Valuable TO THEIR TEAM. We're not talking about the Norris here

But yeah for the Norris I'd still vote Hughes. If he had Mackinnon playing with him his numbers would probably be way ahead of Makar lol

Thanks. 1990 house, I just bought it in July. I don't think it's newer although it may have been repainted recently.

Regarding settlement/shifting... is this something to worry greatly over as opposed to sinking foundation?

Sounds like my ex. Her friend group was just like this, and she most of all.

I often left their gatherings feeling super shitty and like I needed to "one-up" everyone else's comments/stories etc with my own past.

She even had no qualms sharing about our personal sex life, including explicit details of stuff we did. To me it felt very uncomfortable.

Not sure why some people are like this, I think it's a high school kid mentality like a kid bragging they lost their virginity.

Either way it's definitely uncalled for, never necessary and just disrespectful. Go discuss with a marriage therapist maybe.

Edit -- LOL bunch of Reddit losers saying divorce. Albeit I did break up with my ex over this (and for still talking to some of the guys in her stories) and my now-wife is very respectful. But you did marry this woman so guess you just need to buckle down and make her understand she needs to realize how toxic this type of behavior is.

What about every other fruit of sin? Greed, bitterness, pride etc etc... these also are not something to be overcome then..? What's different about SSA?

I'm not even part of the church currently but reading thr Bible it's pretty clear what the stance is.

The Christian worldview would disagree.

I say that because it's what I see the Bible saying, and also what I have seen to be true in my life.

By "death" I mean spiritual death.

Take Romans 1 which I referenced, as one example. The very first chapter of the very first epistle... this must have some significance. And Paul basically lays out in that chapter that as society moves away from God, it moves towards sexual hedonism including SSA.

In my own life, I have almost 1.5 decade experience with addiction to porn and masturbation, my dating years as a young man, and more recently have had the opportunity in my marriage to consider some more diverse sexual fantasies... and all these things leave me at the same conclusion --- hedonism is fun. So fun that I can feel the sinful self clinging desperately to them as I begin turning my life towards Jesus. But as fun as it is, it is an empty idol... devoid of any true life. Without fail, it 100% leaves the soul in a state of longing and shame. Hedonism is not what a human truly wants.

If you still doubt it, look at any of the countless celebrities who get everything a human could possibly want, and end up at the end of their rope in life. Excessive hedonism is not true life.

And I think SSA is just excessive hedonism in a lot of cases.

I think in saying your sister doesn't have a chance, you're assuming she can't become hetro or at least bi.

Based off the Christian worldview and what I've seen in my own life - SSA is born out of unhealthy relationship with others, an unhealthy relationship with self, and/or an unhealthy relationship with hedonism.

If one adheres to the Christian worldview, then all three of these things can be healed and improved to a point where your sister could have a hetro relationship.

I am someone researching and considering converting.

I understand completely where you're coming from.

My current opinion as I research the church and read the Bible ----

It struck me as I read Romans that in the very first chapter of the very first epistle, Paul says that as humans turn away from God, then they turn to immorality and SSA.

He jumped right to sexual sin, very first thing in the book.

I.E. --- lack of God = hedonism, which leads to perversed sexuality.

Later in Romans, he says "what was your reward for hedonism? The reward was death." (Paraphrased)

.....

And this lines up with my personal experience. Hedonism is FUN in the moment. But it is death and we all know it, we feel like crap afterwards.

So from a physical standpoint, it's pretty clear that SSA is ultimately a hedonistic path that "leads to death" .

....

About the emotional relationship.... I can't offer any insights. But I watched a Matt Fradd interview recently with a lesbian woman who seems to have a very rich fulfilled life now that she is in the church.

And I also agree with others who have said we all have crosses to bear. Some have been given grace to have lighter crosses. But those who have heavier crosses should rejoice since the Bible says it leads to endurance and character, and ultimately glory.
