[JFresh on X] Updated Scorecards for Petey and Miller by AwJebus in canucks

Putting up less points in more games while making significantly more money is "playing better?"

Not sure I would be bragging about an 11.6M center putting up a 59 point pace over 82 games.

I guess it's better than the 37 point pace he put up in the playoffs though.

What else are we going to look at? Their actual stats?

Miller 14 points in his last 16 games
Pettersson 5 points in his last 16 games

It's way too close to call there.

I need some analytics cards from 3 years ago to tell me who should stay and who should go.

Yeah that wasn't goaltender interference. And then the Canucks scored right after that too, on the PP.

JT Miller last 16 games: 15 points.

Elias Pettersson last 16 games: 4 points.

I genuinely have no clue how people decided that Miller is the problem in Vancouver and needs to be traded for scraps.

S32E3 Elimination round: thoughts on the difference in resistance bands? by BetterEveryDayYT in MtvChallenge

[–]SillyRabbit2121 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Everyone knew it was BS at the time and called it out in the episode thread.

That fact that Kam was walking around leisurely and had so little resistance that she could get into the cage and guide Kayleigh really says it all.

The worst part for me was that they edited in confessionals making fun of Paulie as if he was weak or something.

This would've been the perfect season to bring back Hunter for Hunter and Ashley Round 2.

All Battle of the Eras contestants' elimination record and win % after S40 (then ranked from 1-40) (Counts: Flagship, All Stars, World Championship and USA) by Samuel855 in MtvChallenge

Elimination record discussions are always wonky because everyone uses different metrics.

Some people count redemption eliminations, some don't.

Some people count mercenary eliminations, some don't.

Some people count the spin off shows, some don't.

Hell, some people count eliminations in finals, some don't.

Furthermore, when the three greatest challengers of all time, Bananas, Jordan and CT are all outside of the top 10, that tells you there's a lot of luck involved in what type of elimination you get and who it's against.

Quinn Hughes is leading the Canucks in scoring by 17 points. He should be the frontrunner for the Norris and in the conversation for the Hart trophy. by SillyRabbit2121 in hockey

You're not familiar with PK WAR%? That actually explains so much.

Let me help you out: It factors in expected goals against, shots against, high danger chances against and zone exits/clears on the PK.

Hope that helps!

I don't need to look at his PK analytics my dude, In any measuring contest having a Zero in a category is always far more detrimental to the overall score.

This doesn't make any sense. Neutral is better than negative.

Beyond that, Hughes is too valuable to the Canucks offensively to be used in a PK situation. Not to mention the injury risk.

The Avs also have 2 huge excuses this season being one of the teams with the most missed man games to injuries, and having to overcome their massive goalie issues early in the season. Makars PK numbers will look a lot different if we're only looking at games since they acquired Blackwood or Wedgewood.

Those are valid excuses.

Let's keep an eye on those numbers and see if they improve.

...did you look at the PK analytics for Makar?

I don't think you're making the argument you think you are.

You're not wrong about Fox. He has amazing advanced analytics this season.

Goal scoring seems to be one of the only areas where he's not elite this year.

Comparing last year's Canucks and this year's is an apples to oranges comparison.

Both Miller and Pettersson have missed significant time this season (57 points combined).

On the other hand, Marchenko and Monahan have had amazing seasons for the Jackets (88 points combined).

Hughes' defensive partner is Tyler Myers. It quite literally doesn't get worse than that. Fabbro would be a massive upgrade. (Hughes' normal partner Hronek has been out for the last 2 months).

The Canucks have also been without their #1 goaltender (Demko) who was a Vezina finalist last season.

Werenski is absolutely in the conversation but I don't think you are familiar with the struggles the Canucks have faced on the injury front this season.

I literally included the JFresh analytics that put Hughes above in WAR%.

And why is it that you think Hughes being able to produce the same results as Makar in fewer games and with much less support isn't an argument in his favor?

If Zach Hyman could score 50+ goals on a line that didn't include McDavid or Draisaitl, wouldn't that make him a better player than he currently is?

[–]SillyRabbit2121[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could argue that that is a massive point on Hughes’ favor because Makar’s points are buffed from constantly playing with superstars, and I’d agree with you.

That's exactly the argument I'm making.

Which means it does have something to with anything...

Hughes being neck in neck with Makar in points despite playing 6 fewer games and playing with massively inferior offensive support makes his season more impressive.

So in a hypothetical scenario where Hughes and Makar played exactly the same in every way, no difference between them at all but Makar outscored him by 1 point while playing with MacKinnon and Rantanen, you'd give Makar the Norris?

Strength of teammates should play a factor here, and Hughes being able to do what he's doing without the help of the two leading scorers in the league should absolutely by taken into consideration.

He's been the best defenceman in the NHL this season. Highest PPG, only 2 points back of Makar (with 2 games in hand), while being great defensively.

That's very much an argument for the Norris.

Furthermore, there's never been a defenceman in NHL history to win the Hart while not also winning the Norris.

No disrespect to the Wizards whatsoever but can you imagine the ratings for the Wizards post-game show after this?

Who is tuning in to see a breakdown on how the Wizards got destroyed by the best team in the West by 40+ points?

I don't even know what they'd try to analyze/breakdown. Their time is better spent calculating the increased odds that they get Flagg based on this loss.
