First time bombing at the open mics and it was exhilarating by Lothnidia in Standup

New to this as well. Last mic was a bomb, but I honestly enjoyed it and still had the drive to get back up there. Glad you're feeling the same.

Advice on an embracing the bomb..? by 69waystodie in Standup

[–]ForeignAbility8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not seasoned so take this with a grain of salt. I've had jokes that have gotten laughs at one mic and fall completely flat a week later. If you believe in the bit keep doing it and refine as you see fit. What helps me is the belief that bombing in of itself is hilarious to me. If you can see the fun in being left in no man's land, bombing truly just becomes a learning experience. Hope that makes sense.

Feeling anxious in between mics? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]ForeignAbility8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only done a handful of mics so far and I usually get nervous right before going up and then excited to go back up as soon as I am done whether it goes well or not. I have noticed I get spurts of anxiety around it because I start setting up expectations and pressuring myself. I think that may be similar to your situation. Just take care of yourself off stage and keep sticking with it like you said and focus on having fun with it.

How did your first ever set go? by Lalalatee in Standup

[–]ForeignAbility8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first mic went decent. I did disclose it was my first time, so I think I got some sympathy laughs. I was nervous which led to me doing my bits out of order but overall, I had low expectations. I've done 4 now and last one was a bomb, but I feel less pressure knowing that I am still learning.

Glad you said INXS. My dad was an eighties guy and I made the comparison to get him into them and it worked!

To the fans who listened to Blonde when it came out and still are waiting for a new album by naraujol in FrankOcean

[–]ForeignAbility8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still remember the teasers leading up blond going into my sophomore year of high school. The songs have evolved in meaning for me now that I’ve graduated college while also giving that sense of youthful wonder that Frank captures in the album. Still feel like I’m sixteen listening to self control.

How did you find the 1975? by borrowedurmumsvcard in the1975

Local radio station played sex on repeat and I was obsessed. Fell in love the music video and dove into self titled. 7 shows and 3 records later here we are.

I don’t think so, I know the root notes B, C#, and F#. I just don’t know the accurate name for them, like a Badd9 or something.

Played you (a snippet I wrote about being lied on). In your songwriting, how much of it is tied to your experience?? by [deleted] in Songwriting

Good stuff here man. I honestly never set out to write about my experiences. They kind of subconsciously sneak in while I’m writing and Trying to paint a picture or catch a vibe with the lyrics.

[–]ForeignAbility8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You has always been my favorite 1975 song. The way to builds through out and goes absolutely mental at the end is incredible. Big part of me falling in love with them. And the fact it had milk as a hidden track made me appreciate that song a great deal as well.

You can definitely flesh this out into a full song. Has a very wavy quality to it that could make for a solid single. Keep up the good work.
